Just binged through the night of. Excellent show. Anyone who liked the wire should check it out if they haven't already. Similar vibe and it stars the guy who played Omar. He and the main character were awesome.

Thats all of tv now lol. I'm all for acceptance and all that but its just weird seeing a gay, a tranny, and someone from every ethnicity mixed into every show now. Maybe that's how it is in some places of the world but personally I don't know a single tranny and I've never even seen two dudes kiss in real life so it just seems so forced when I see it in shows. Makes it seem more commercial and less authentic.

I'm sure it's mentioned earlier in the thread, but Black Mirror is amazing. One caveat: the first episode is the worst of the series. It's so unrealistic that I didn't watch another episode for almost a year until people told me the rest of the series is great.
It's so unrealistic that it's a *science fiction* series and I couldn't get past how unrealistic it was.
The third episode, "The Entire History of You" is a great place to start. Then you can jump around, each episode is independent.

Swedish Trilogy of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".. is tremendous.
The American version was glitzier but obviously did not make enough money to warrant the other 2 books. Swedish version is raw and the well worth the binge watching.
I saw a few minutes of the Gilmore Girls when the woman was going through a phase of watching all of them. That was the worst and most annoying television that I have ever seen or will ever see by far. Do not ever watch it if you are a man.

I actually (eventually) took this advice. Good call! It was a really different experience, the second time through.
For one thing, I hadn't remembered how much plot was crammed into the final season--my memory was that it had been spread out more. For another, I was able to appreciate the arc that Jesse Pinkman followed--hard to believe that the character had originally been slated for death in Season One.
I just finished watching a documentary: One of Us, about three Jews leaving Hasidism. Particularly resonant because its locations were very familiar: "I know that bridge! I know that subway station!"

The Wire is my all time fav followed by Breaking Bad (and I guess the Sopranos), but a few others that are great:
-Stranger Things (binge watched- very gripping)
-Justified (not as "good" as the others listed, but maybe more fun?)
-The Americans (halfway through and enjoying the hell out of it)
-Deadwood (just an awesome frigging show)
Just started Banshee last night. Have heard great things, will report back.
And if you want to laugh and are into the dark humor of it, It's Always Sunny is fantastic.

Nobody seems to have the attention span for "The Wire" anymore ?
I actually enjoyed "Ozark." I came in with low expectation because I figured Netflix would pile on some more cuckoldry/SJW bullsht but it didn't happen.

Wow. Just watched a terrific movie on Amazon Prime, "The Handmaiden" (no, not "The Handmaid's Tale"). Wow.
Two things, though:
1) It's not in English. The subtitles are really excellent, though--and a good thing, because my Japanese sucks and my Korean is non-existent.
2) It's definitely NSFW--which is not necessarily obvious in the early going.
Watched all 7 episodes of Godless this weekend, thought it was well done if you like westerns.
