moron
you have no clue whether he couda speeded up or not
For him to have run a 51 flat last lap as you claim, he'd have had to increased his speed in the home stretch considerably and run faster than he did on the back stretch
no
it wouda needed just a few tenths from current 100/pace
He'd have had to run the last 100m in 12.2, which no one has ever done in an Olympic 1500 final apart from Coe in 1980
moron
coe was no better than 3'30 that year
mahloofi may be in 3'26 shape, with already at worst 1'43-shape
that means he had helluva lot more reserve in fast 1500 races than coe
I've seen his last 100m from front on and from the side on tv. While facially he wasn't in distress, his body showed he was tiring down the straight. The idea that he coasted the last 100m is ridiculous
drivel
i've watched it plenty as well & he eased off knowing he had won
if someone had been close he still had another gear
He eased off the last few strides knowing he was clear. You don't coast the last 100m in an Olympic final knowing that guys are closing on you
idiot
if you have crushed the field, you can ease off plenty as he did
he wasn't after any wr on the day, so no need to push harder at the end then needed
If he'd not eased off those last few strides he may have run 13.6 for the last 100 rather than 14.0. He certainly wasn't going to run 51 flat!
drivel
he cruised in hardly exerting himself in the stretch
he couda gone 51.0 if he'd had to push it off the curve
if aouita coud finish a 3'29.7 with a 12.8 finish in a 52.8, this guy with better 800 speed & possibly 2+s better at 1500 coud finish a 3'34 with a low-12 for a 51.0
