2nd year, fallen back a bit, just 3 pts on the qb rating. it's a bad team. but last year, as a rookie, he threw for over 4,000 yards and had 14 rushing touchdowns, which is great, in addition to 21 td passes. he's not going to lose the ability he had last year as long as he's healthy.

Here come the attacks
The biggest problem I have with Cam Newton as a team leader is his attitude when the Panthers are losing. As soon as things aren't going his way, he sulks. You aren't going to be a clutch comeback QB with an attitude like that. If he had a bit more ice in his veins when his team is down, he'd be more dangerous. But he gets all bummed out and gives up. And his own teammates and coaches have been calling him out on this. He needs to grow up a little before he can become great.

Great athletic talent, selfish attitude and not a polished passer. History shows that the rushing TDs for QBs don't stay consistent, so a big dropoff from 14 TDs was/is to be expected this year. He can be very very good on a consistent basis, but he needs quite a bit more work on his passing and needs to ditch the me first attitude to come close to realizing his full potential.
He had an awesome rookie year. I am happy for him. This is the NFL, and people have had an entire year to figure him out, and they have. The same will happen to RGIII.

In that league, you are defined, judged, largely by Super Bowl victory.....to win a Super Bowl, more that a great QB, you need a very good coach....the jury is out on Ron Rivera....let, Cam go free agent and go and play for Belichek or Coghlan.... they have 8, I said 8, Super Bowl appearances between them. (Belichek has 3 victoris Coghlan has 2). Ron Rivera once saw the Super Bowl trophy from a distance....

I've always maintained that he would end up being about as successful as Daunte Culpepper. I thought that before he got drafted, after he finished last year with huge numbers, and now when he is performing worst than Culpepper did.

A free education? Cam and other Div I big time footballers are not there to get an education. Hell, given how much time they have to put into football, they have neither the time nor energy to pursue academics unless they are superman. You find out all about your education as soon as you try to attend a class or a lab when the football team demands your time
Don't be so naive. These kids are unpaid professionals who produce billions of dollars for rich white guys at the networks, at the shoe companies, at the NCAA, etc.
The idea that poor at year old kids going up against a billion dollar industry are using the system as much as the system us using them is far outside of the realm of commonsense. It is frightening that so many -- like yourself -- buy into this narrative sold to you by that same system. Where is the propaganda apparatus for poor black kids?
The athlete has an opportunity for an education in exchange for his (or her) athletic prowess. The athlete also gets training that can lead to millions.
if the athlete does not take advantage, whose fault is that?
