do we know who actually picks the team
do we know who actually picks the team
Its obviosuly not clear cut, so let's lay off the Hepples bashing and just stick to facts. The guy' running well, ok.
Bowden v Hepples. Hepples is good on the road, but less effective on the country. Bowden was 6th in Euro Cross as a junior I think. So on that basis Bowden needs to run at Liverpool to see if he can make Euro Cross Senior team, but Hepples wont really be missed. BUT. Please remember that this is a reserve selection and what is the point of taking Bowden to Japan to run in a 5k track race ? Hepples will be making his GB debut and therefore I suspect would love the trip.
So who is picking the team ? Obviously people with a better understanding of the situation than most of those posting here.
As for Ben Tickner - I seem to remember that he is quite good on the country too, so that rules him out of Ekiden.
it should be the athletes choice if he wants to take ekiden instead of the euro trials.they should of gone down the national 6 stage list and asked them.there is no guarantee for any of the athletes at liverpool getting a gb vest.this is what the athletes are trying to train for and achieve.only four places up for grabs at liverpool is very tougth.rob whalley turned down ekiden a few years ago to concentrate on the euro xc but he didnt make the team at the trials.
That is complete bollocks. UKA wants the best team in the Euro Cross so will pick accordingly. The Ekiden is really just a bit of a side show, given the date. If it was a month earlier then I would hope that we would send the best possible team, but on the existing date we cant.
Try going down the 6stage results and see what team might have gone to Japan - but remember that the mens legs in Chiba are 2 x 10k and 1 x 5k.
Not certain who should be doing the 10ks now that Davies Webb and Hepples are travelling - assuming McCormick is a definite on the 5k. Looks like a team managers job when they get there.
The
Interesting, how many GOOD CLUB ATHLETE'S can run approx
3k 8.02
5k 13.54
10k 29.30
Not many!Hardly a good club runner!!!
Didnt Bowden run Ekiden last year? I think Hepples would relish the chance more than Bowden who is probably focused on the trial. As for Ben Tickner he is best on the XC so he probably would have turned Ekiden down.
why isnt chris parr in the team he is the most in-form runner in GB if not the world.
Because he is running in poncey 1 mile XC races which prove nothing and avoiding mens races?
Put up or shut up re your unfounded comments of Hepples.
Have not yet reached the finish line.Ploblem is the truth allways hurts.
Any news on who is replacing Mo.
Good for Hepples...should be in the team now.
