Well we know Shelby will fade in the 2nd half. What the hell was she thinking?

Averaging 72.6/lap through 3200. She's slowed down each of the last 3 laps. Make that the last 5 laps - she just ran a 74.64 - it doesn't look good.
Shelby slipping to 73s. Imagine 74s will be creeping in soon.
up to 73/seconds per lap now
74/seconds/lap
USATF Outdoor Qualifying
Automatic - 31:30
Minimum - 33:20
Might even have one of the other runners who paced better beat her.
Possible but I don't think so. They need to make up about 3 seconds per lap. Lap 16 was the first where anyone ran faster than her. Only closed about 2 seconds total the last two laps.
Seems like Jess McClean is moving up
Houlian was 38 seconds ahead after 15 laps.
The gap is now 30 seconds after 20 laps. The last few laps have been about the same.
Personally I feel the dew point is as important as the temperature.
24.38 at 8000m - sub 30.50 would be good at this point.
The lapped runner passing Shelby would be kinda funny/bizarre.
The gap is still 30 seconds after 22 laps & McClain has an 8 second gap over 3rd.
sub 31.00 would be a great finish right now...
Now 23 seconds after 23 laps. McClain is getting closer.
I don't think McClean can make up 26 seconds in the last kilometer

What's the dew point then?

And she finished well outside the top 10. After talking about breaking the AR, that's a pretty poor performance.
And as an aside, this list is a reminder of how great Shalane was. That was 18 years ago now. Damn.
