I don't agree that he did his best. If that was his best at parenting, then yeah he deserves to feel like a failure because it was a poor job of parenting.
Easy to judge from a distance. Parenting isn’t easy. He did his best.
It's not hard to refrain from abusing your kids to the point that they estrange you from their lives.
If slapping one of his many kids once with a towel is his worst infraction, he should be given a parenting medal and Nobel Peace Prize. Jakob should be one his hands and knees thanking his dad for raising him to be tough and competitive.
Have you ever had a teenager? They are notorious for being overly emotional and rebellious against their parents. It doesn’t take much for them to want to leave the house and get away from their parents’ “oppressive” rules.
Everyone who downvoted what I said about teenagers being notorious for being overly emotional and rebellious against their parents should read this article.
Your child has just rolled their eyes, informed you they WILL be going to that party whether you like it or not, told you they hate you, burst into tears and then slammed their door - all in the space of two minutes.
Congratulations. You are the proud owner of a teenager. Don't fret though, if your teen is doing these or similar things, they're exactly where they should be.
As challenging as it can be to have a rebellious, moody, obnoxious adolescent take over your house for a few years, experts say it's pretty much par for the course.
In fact, it's the quiet ones you should worry about. According to experts, they are more likely to be masking anxiety. Perth psychologist Tony White says that while some children naturally have a quieter temperament, for others a lack of rebellion is a sign you need to dig deeper.
"The research says about 75 per cent of teenagers will be rebellious to some degree, and that is a good thing because it means the teenager is standing up to authority and in psychological terms, they're developing their own identity," he says.
"If they don't (rebel) then you start worrying. I have written this thing - 'a happy teenager is not a healthy teenager' - because I have a lot of parents come in and say 'my teenager is fighting, that means he's developing wrongly.' Well, it doesn't. If they don't fight, then you can actually be having a problem."

His best resulted in his kids hating him and not wanting anything to do with him.
If that's his best, I'd hate to see what his worst is. Screw him and anyone who defends him.
one of his kids is an Olympic 1500m champion, another kid is a European 1500m champion, and another kid is a 1500m world championship medalist, all from a snowed in, zero altitude town in Norway. And the worst thing he did to achieve this was slap one kid with a towel. Take your kids to Sandnes, let’s see you get off their phones and get them outside in the early morning and late afternoon for some double threshold training.

Ingrid was rebellious to a large degree but is still part of the 75 percent of teenagers who rebel in some form. Is 75 percent not normal?
Last post because you’re being intentionally obtuse. Rebellious means staying out an hour past curfew, wearing something to the school dance your dad doesn’t approve of, or going over to Timmy’s when you said you’re going to Bobby’s. Not permanently moving out of your childhood home at 15, testifying against your father, and cutting off contact.

It was rebellion to a high degree. Encouraged by her older brothers who gained financially from cutting off Gjert. Older brothers who didn’t make public allegations until nearly 2 years later in response to the criticism they were getting for mistreating Gjert and Narve.

The Ingebrigtsen were mistreated, not Gjert and Narve.

The towel incident happened in January 2022. Why did they wait to go public until October 2023? For the rest of 2022, there weren’t any other issues that got public attention. What changed in 2023?
I’ll tell you what changed. Narve started getting better under Gjert’s coaching, and Henrik and Jakob didn’t like that. They couldn’t just leave Gjert and Narve alone. They interfered with Gjert’s coaching, and Henrik bullied Narve. Petty.
Let's say Gjert was helping his kids dope or acquire PED's with his shipping company - Why would Jakob get in an legal argument like this if Gjert knows the truth and could expose it all if pushed too far with these charges?
