I'm not hoping he will get the 1500m/Mile and/or 5000m WRs.
At age 24 Ingebrigtsen has more seasons where he was the no. 1 at 1500m than Coe has had during his career. Let's see how many more will come. He is much stronger at the moment than he was last year at the same time.
If you're not talking 1500 there is no reason to refer to Coe and Ovett and the great milers in comparison with Ingebrigtsen.
You mention again and again that Ingebrigtsen has lost (which means: not won) the last three global 1500m finals).
Sebastian Coe - one of the all-time greats in the 800m - has not won a global 800m gold during his full career (and has even lost two european finals over the distance and has skipped a commonwealth final).
Steve Ovett - one of the all-time greats in the 1500m - has not won a global 1500m gold during his full career (a bronce, that's it).
Kenenisa Bekele - for most here the greatest distance runner in history - has lost his first two global 5000m finals (and has skipped the next two occasions).
Ron Clarke - one of the all-time great distance record setters - has lost all his global and commonwelath finals during his full career (10 over 5000m/10000m).
Mo Farah - the most decorated track distance runner in history - has not won any global gold until age 28.
Coe was an 800/1500 runner, not a 2k-5k runner. Why not introduce Bolt into the comparison? Just as relevant. But it wasn't me who decided to include Coe's 800 championship achievements in the comparison with Ingebrigtsen.
But all of this is 45 years apart. In forty years time you will be able to make the same stupid argument against Ingebrigtsen.
You compared Ingebrigtsen with Coe over 800m - YOU. So it would be you, with the Bolt comparison if helpful for your "argumentation".
Did you get the meaning of the above the mentioned numbers? For example 7:54.32 and 7:17.55? Any idea?
No one qualifies Coe's victories. What sort of asterisk would you put against 4th, as well as 2nd in two prior WC finals? * "Not the winner"? Certainly not the champion.
The response was to your statement about Olympic victories.
As I said, it isn't seriously argued in the sport that Coe didn't beat the best runners in his Olympic victories. Every Olympic final can be qualified in some way by saying certain runners weren't there - through injury, not being available or simply getting eradicated before the final. I can't think of an Olympic final in decades where it is consistently argued that the winner wasn't the best because the "best" weren't there.

You can puff Ingebrigtsen up but his failure to win a championship title since 2021 in his main event speaks for itself.

I didn't raise Coe - or his 800 performances. Another poster - probably you - did. But his achievements over the 1500 still far outstrip the Norwegian's. You are boring beyond belief.
You never post anything that isn't a witless insult.

Your bizarre attacks on Jakob come off as a desperate attempt at getting attention, getting people to engage with you since no one in the real world pays you any mind at all, except the nursing home aids who have to change your diaper and hose you down at shower time.
What you say are "bizarre attacks" on Jakob are simply the facts. He hasn't won a championship title in years in his main event and hasn't broken the outdoor wrs for the distance - or any championship distance. It can't be window-dressed.
This race says very little about Jakob's 1500 fitness, as ones times don't really predict times at shorter distances. If anything it says Jakob should probably move up and focus on the 3k/5k more.

Weird take.
Jakob has won three consecutive global championships in his main event--the 5000 metres. He is undefeated in 5000m finals since 2020.
In his secondary event, the 1500 metres, Jakob has outperformed the current crop of 1500m specialists. He has won more global medals and posted consistently faster times than any one else. It is certainly true Jakob would like to have had finished better in the last three 1500m championships. But it is also true that Nuguse, Kerr, and Hocker would trade their 2021-present accomplishments for Jakob's in a heartbeat.

His primary event is the 1500m.
And yes, while he has a soild count. To be the favorite and get beat 4 consecutive times is a lot to deal with mentally.

You did. You compared Coe's 800m PB with Ingebrigtsen's. Just another attempt to show which bad runner Ingebrigtsen is? (small info for you: he already is an all-time great).
When comparing them over the longer distances you state that Coe was a 800m/1500m runner. You think Ingebrigtsen also is a 800m/1500m runner?

The 5k isnt is "main" event - he hardly races it. He runs many more 1500 races. You only say it is his main event because he hasn't had the crucial losses he has over the distance he races most often.

I didn't raise it - moran. I responded to it. Try reading the thread before spouting bs.

Funny to watch you losing your temper all the time. Zero self-control. 🍿

YOU compared Coe's 800m PB with Ingebrigtsen's.
When confronted with their PBs in longer events you stated that Coe is a 800m/1500m runner.
That's correct. And Ingebrigtsen is a 1500m to 5000m runner who clearly tends to the long distances.
Why didn't you compare him to Bolt in the Sprints?

I compared him with Coe because another poster had already referred to Coe and had said Coe had failed to win over the 800. So that is why I continued the comparison. But it doesn't matter what Coe did over 800 - or what Ingebrigtsen does over the 5k. In respect of the distance they share - the 1500/mile - Coe has championship victories Ingebrigtsen can never now match as well as being a multiple world record holder over the distance which Ingebrigtsen hasn't achieved.

You’re confused Armstronglivs.
The 1500 is his favorite event. His main event—his best event—his bread and butter—his 9 to 5—is the 5000. Jakob plays by different rules. His dominance in the 5000 means he can spend the majority of his time working on his hobby: the 1500.
Jakob is so good at his hobby—routinely embarrassing so-called “1500m specialists”, consistently capturing WLs, getting ducked at Euro Championships—that people confuse it for his day job.
