What is up with Kenneth Rooks. He's probably not on tv . But dropped well before 2k. And he ran 13:30 for 5k a few weeks ago. How in the world did that guy get Olympic silver? Still arguably the greatest race I've ever seen in person by an American.
Everyone on these boards is really sensitive about Tuohy so not trying to get anyone riled up, but it’s pretty obvious that she has not been herself for several years now.
Several years? For real?
Honestly if she’d been able to maintain the pace of her penultimate lap (31.47) for the final lap (34.24), I’d say she had run a very encouraging race. If that had been the case, we’d be looking at an 8:51 closing in 62.9, beating Markezich and finishing 3 seconds behind the top 4 who are all legit Olympians. Of course, she struggled in the last lap instead, but maybe she’s not all that far from her best (which we should remember was excellent for a collegian, but never absolutely world class).

The guy is a true steepler. He performs best when there are hurdles in the way. It’s always been this way with him.

Ngl wasn’t expecting a 2:35 first k. Why is wilkinson pushing it that hard?
Sometimes taking it out hard IS a good strategy. Wilkinson got 4th beating everyone who was surging/fighting for spots by him. Those 3 above him were probably beating him in any scenario. You could argue his tactics really helped vs speedy guys like Beadelscomb, Comber etc.

he ran 2:36, 2:39, 2:40 so just wasn't fit for the race. Injured recently?
Wasnt as bad as Reniewicki running 2:37, 2:36, 2:45
Jacobs looking back multiple times in the last 50 was embarrassing form. MIGHT have cost him.
Exactly. I always tell my kids that when they are ahead of someone they think they 'shouldn't' be able to beat in the home stretch, just ficking GO! Run for your life! You know they are coming, you don't need to look back, you just need to get to the tape first.
Jacobs lost the race by looking back 5 times in the last 50 meters. Bro look forward smh.
That was wild - looking back, weaving around. Looked like he was being chased by an aggressive dog. Impressed how he held off HK's first kick with a lap to go.

Ha! the dog thing is a great description of how he appeared.
