Get ready to run after work in the dark more often! Because...
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.

...
God, he is dumb.
I feel bad for Americans.
It seems that the dummy wants to keep DST year round. He simply doesn't know how it works. No one in his inner "circle" (jerk) dares tell him he got it wrong. They are willing to let the orange klown cancel it, then get horrified he meant the opposite, and then he'll have someone write DST EO #2 to make it DST all year long.
The most amazing part will be the Trumpers endlessly supporting Trump's cancelling it, who will then endlessly support his un-cancelling it. Maybe Trump will rename it as TDS for Trump Daylight Standard (one hour of free sunlight!)... Trumpers will cheer.
The new efficiency guys say it is inefficient and annoying.
Surprisingly it is not healthy. Research suggests that daylight saving time can increase the risk of: Heart attacks Strokes Abnormal heart rhythms Sleep disruption Mood disturbances Suicide Diabetes and obesity Poorer mental health Lower cognitive performance Increased risk of motor vehicle accidents Disrupts circadian rhythm Daylight saving time disrupts the balance between our internal clocks and social schedules, which can lead to: Inadequate sleep Decreased attention Increased metabolic and cardiovascular issues Mood disorders Shortened lifespan
"The concept was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, who believed that rising earlier would save money on candles. It was first implemented in Germany during World War I to conserve energy. The United States followed suit, and the Standard Time Act of 1918 began DST in the country." With LED lightbulbs, I don't think energy efficiency is going to justify keeping it. So, why should we keep it?
Listing abunch of stuff that's been correlated in research doesn't mean that those are caused by it. There is probably 10 times more the other way.
In any case, how can longer daylight in afternoon make the economy less efficient?
Can't beat Queensland's excuses for not having it though, such as cattle getting confused at feeding time and curtains fading faster
Perhaps we could compile a list of stupid reasons against DST

If daylight is longer in the afternoon, it is shorter in the morning. The switch impacts energy usage and retail buyer behavior, etc. I agree, is this a major factor?
From a biological perspective, switching time systems impacts our biological rhythms, which impacts worker productivity and our health. There is research that documents this. You can research it yourself or hire a research asst. if want to have a better grasp of the concept.
My guess is that Musk and Trump are more interested in worker productivity. I'm not sure what the House of Rep. wants to hear when they possibly vote on this again.

Totally expected from someone that thinks asylum seekers are people that are getting let out of actual insane asylums. That’s why he keeps speaking about Hannibal Lecter.

One hour, twice a year, and it occurs on your weekend for most people. Is it really that difficult? How do you people handle flying across multiple time zones? Toughen up all you buttercups!

Okay let's settle this. There are obviously very profound pros and cons to either choice of time changing. The people favoring DST are clearly not considering how late the sun would rise during winter mornings. However on the contrary, with a permanent ST, the sun would rise as early as 4:45AM during the summer months (at least where I live, probably even earlier for other parts of the US).
Here's the fact - Standard Time is the healthier, safer option. It aligns more with our body's circadian rhythm, sleep cycle, etc. The earlier the sunset, the better, the safer, the sooner everyone gets started with their daily routines.
The issue is that nobody likes it being dark when they get off their 9-5 job during wintertime, right? But what if the sunset isn't the issue? What if the issue is the hours of these corporations? Why not work 7-3 instead? That way, you'd still have plenty of sunlight left once you're off regardless if it's winter or summer. There are much better, simpler solutions other than making the entire country change their clocks for no reason. The idea as a whole was a mistake in my opinion.
Even with all of that said, DST does still seem a bit intriguing. I mean, hell I like dark mornings, it makes it all the more exciting for the sunrise to actually happen, along with the sunlight lasting further into the evening. But that doesn't apply to everyone. It's a hard choice for sure.
