Temperatures fluctuate. We've had a slight cooling the past 10 years and hurricane count and intensity is down over the past 20 years.
You all should consider this storm a reversion to the mean and not the result of a trend that we ultimately have little control over (the global warming hoax).
Where are you getting your bs from? The last 10 years have seen the highest temperatures in recorded history!
Earth's surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit since the start of the NOAA record in 1850. It may seem like a small change, but it's a tremendous increase in stored heat.
I think most of us have hurricane burnout by now. It's just not that interesting how bad Florida gets jacked anymore. Don't live there if you don't like it.
Current predictions are Milton will hit Sarasota tonight as a cat 4.
Someone earlier said that Ron is threatening to prosecute the media if they air or publish a pro-choice ad. He thought that would be enough to appease God. Clearly it was not enough. I don’t know what he tried to do overnight, but whatever it was. It failed.
Here are a few suggestions (he has 9 hours for this thing to get to Cat 3).
1) Finding 10 righteous people in the State of Florida. Abraham already did the pre negotiation for him, so he does not even have to find 50. However, he only has 6 hours left, so he may not have the time.
2) Make same sex marriage illegal in Florida
3) Outlaw buggery
4) Make women dressing as men and men dressing as women illegal in Florida
5) Make abortion illegal in Florida
6) Have a stronger stance on corruption and wickedness. This may be too general, but he could find something concrete to tackle that. This was a big deal for God before the “big flood”.
7) Make Taylor Swift illegal in Florida. God does not like idols.
8) Take concrete actions to reduce violence and bloodshed in Florida. Maybe he should take a stronger stance on that (like in El Salvador for example). I heard that violence has increased dramatically in Florida in the past 4 years.

Careful, that sounds like gun control. That ain't gon' make no Floridian God happy.
There is still a chance for an unexpected wabble, but it looks like the worst of all possible paths for the storm (straight up Tampa Bay or just north) will be avoided with the storm going just south to the Bradenton/Sarasota area. Even still, Tampa Bay will get a 8-12 foot storm surge. A large rain band is setting up now and will be coming onshore from Ft. Meyers all the way up the coast to the Tampa Bay area. The more rain that is dumped before landfall, the worse the flooding will be from the storm surge.

There is already so much debris piled up outside homes from Helene 2 weeks ago. This is just going to be so terrible. Older homes and trailer homes are going to be completely destroyed. What are those families going to do? They don't have the money to get hotel rooms for the next few months. Just really sad what is going to happen.

People who are lucky will get FEMA trailers to live in while their homes are rebuilt. But a large number of people will lose everything and end up selling their property for lot value or less. I think a lot of the older homes on the barrier islands/keys are just going to get scraped of their foundation if there are no big hotels between them and the beach. Others will be flooded out but could be saved if people get back in and pull all the wet drywall and flooring to allow the studs to dry out. At least the weather will be cooling off and staying dry after the storm. If this was an August storm, people would come back to temps in the mid 90s.

This is like two major hurricanes in 2 weeks. Florida is a great place but who is going to want to invest in a house or condo after these disasters.

Can you build condos to withstand Cat. 5 hurricanes?

Florida vastly improved their building codes after Hurricane Andrew. A lot of structures have been retrofitted to better withstand a Cat 4 winds and flying debris. And the new construction is built for Cat 4 winds. Of course, roof shingles deteriorate over time and there is plenty of shoddy construction in the south. And there are plenty of homes that are older and have not been retrofitted.
But unless you build a house on stilts so that the living areas are above the storm surge, there is nothing you can do structurally to make a house withstand a storm surge. The surge along the barrier islands/keys is really just the ocean moving onto land. The surf will batter homes and rip them off their foundation. The more inland the surge goes, the more it will just be a flooding event. But on of the partners at my firm has a beach house on Galveston Island. During Ike, there was a 22 ft surge. His house is newer and built up high enough on stilts that the living areas were not damaged. But other houses that were only built up for a 12 ft surge were just washed away into the ocean.
In preparation for the imminent landfall of the hurricane, the Harris/Biden administration and FEMA are taking extra steps to ensure the illegals in Tampa and the surrounding areas have everything they need.
If the stuff goes down in your neighborhood, FEMA will still help you out. Even if you are stupid. That bodes well for you, but know you aren't helping.
rooting for Lieutenant Dan, but i think he has missed some important physics.
Had plenty of time to leave and he's on a boat for crying out loud so he could be anywhere but there. That dude is a moron and he's going to die a senseless and violent death!
