Does CDA even have a shot at nxn if they don’t have a Rietze? Their current 4 & 5 will be over 120 points each at Boise. You’re not going to the big dance with two guys scoring 200+ combined points

So he raced at districts and was #4 on the team which is where he should be.
NXR NW is in about half a month. So if he can’t race there, the #2 spot will be open for a team like Jesuit or Rocky Mountain
I really don’t think Rocky will be in the mix, even without Crater.
I’m thinking something like:
CDA
Jesuit
Issaquah
Mercer Island
Sehome
Rocky
Kamiakin
Franklin
Boise
If Crater has a full lineup, then they win and push everyone back by one, without a full lineup I still think they get 4th of 5th
Agreed. Honestly, I feel as though Idaho is overrated as a whole.
CDA is strong but Crater is still obviously better, and I really do think that some of those Washington teams, Mercer Island in particular, will be very close to CDA for 2nd/3rd.
Rocky will be lucky to get 4th again. It's not that they are weak, (I really do think they are probably better this year than they were last year), it's just that Washington is back to near full strength and Oregon has stayed strong.
I feel the same way about Franklin that I do Rocky. They have some strong elements, but in a year as stacked as this one, top 5 is about the best they can do. It's a bummer too, because preseason they were most people's #3 and in the hunt for an NXN bid.
For the last couple of races, Mercer Island’s #4 guy has not been close to their #2&3 guys like he was at Woodbridge. But the good news is that their #5 guy closed the gap on him

Picking Franklin to finish 3rd at NXR wouldn’t be a smart preseason pick. CDA, Crater, and Jesuit had the best nonsenior groups last year.
Franklin had a strong top 3 coming back and then there was going to be a huge gap after that.
2/1 - CDA (Twins and Carr all in Top 20) 3/1 - Crater. (Totenson out) 5/2 - Mercer Island (Powell - odds on fav to win outright regardless of team results) 7/2 - Jesuit OR (looks deep) 9/2 - Boise, Rocky, Sehome, Issaquah. (these team can do it on right day) 50/1 - The Field (You never know)

Rocky was better last year. Heemeyer was better than Lucas is this year. Lucas was better last year than Tuft is this year. Tuft was better last year than Thomas or Goggins. They are better at 4 this year, but were better at 5 last year.

The 4th best team in Idaho got 4th at Nike Portland, losing to two out of region teams and they beat Franklin.
The 3rd best Idaho team won Rose City.
The best team won 509 and Hole in the Wall while missing their #4, who is now back.
The girls is a total crapshoot on who will win, but one of the top 4 teams won Nike Portland. Another won Nike Twilight. Another won Rose City. The only one that doesn't have a major invitational win is the only one that didn't travel out of the area, but they won the district meet.
I think Boise and Rocky will end up top 5. Mountain View should be top 10. Last year's 10th place team was great through 2 but dropped off pretty hard. 15:13, 15:33, 16:12, 16:32, 16:57. The 11th place team was 16:12, 16:15, 16:20, 16:25, 16:47.
The Idaho State meet is this week and is on the same course. It will give every indication on who is and isn't relevant to the region.
