Pretty sure sprints/field events win championships. Milligan doesn't even have a sprint/field events coach to work with the kids already in the program.

Considering were in xc season sprints and field events won't be winning any titles until that is over.

Agree but you have to have a coach to coach the kids which isn't happening any time soon since there isn't a coach for those kids. Hard to get better if the kids are on their own when practice starts. Also don't see much with the new distance hire that has no experience.

Has he had any success at his previous school? Most don't go from a head coach to an assistant.

Roark is the head after being spurned by Voyles. The question is, did he approach Yoder before kent left for greener pastures? Did admin tell Roark he needed to bite the bullet and lead until the dust settles and they might get an actual applicant pool? To my knowledge the distance position was not posted this spring after Neideck "resigned" the week of our conference meet

It looks like indoor and outdoor will be going to the Cumberlands. They have loaded up in the sprints in addition to their distance and RW points.

XC will probably be the one competitive championship

Cumberlands, St.Mary's, IWU, Milligan and OKC (depending on Silva etc) all have shots at it.

Who is a dark horse that can maybe get the XC title, possibly COI or EOU?

Obviously Aquinas as well.

It was never posted. Huntington mucked this so bad. Top 25 distance school in CC for both men and women, brought in high level distance transfers and their director can’t even be bothered to hire a distance coach. Greed and stupidity. Watch Roark jump ship within the year.

I have now looked through the entire Cumberlands roster and I think they're overrated. The Ukrainian Shevchenko and the German Noah Loser still seem to be injured, which leaves "only" the one new guy from Salt Lake, the Moroccan Youssef Asslouj and Luca Madeo. I don't think Madeo is good in XC because he was a disappointment last season. However, in terms of arrogance level, he would fit well with Evert Silva D:

In general, I think Milligan will win the title and Cumberlands will come 2nd or 3rd, but I'm excited about August 30th when Cumberlands opens the season.
