I'm in the UK, where CAT and aptitude testing, backed up by relevant volunteer and work experience and personal statements are vital for med school admission.
I'm just wondering what relevant experience Mary Cain has got recently while she's been busy with triathlon, Ireland and suing various individuals involved in her former running career?
Does anybody know?
I would be concerned with her going into medicine as a career, not just because she has a tendency to drop out, deliberately court attention from deliberately portraying herself as a victim and a pattern of exclusionary behaviour attracted to ultra elite levels of whatever she is doing, in advance of results. She would be interesting if assessed from a Cluster B pd perspective. I don't think she's the greatest candidate for a career in medicine, that said there are many others in the profession who are ego-driven. I would bet that one or both of her parents share the same traits, after all her parents had no objections when fame, money and Nike beckoned.
What I'm saying is that in a robust, non-biased applications procedure, those character traits would be flagged up and form a genuine concern affecting her application.
