This is such a bad take that I think you’re just trolling. In case you’re not, I can tell you that I work closely with many architects and engineers -from civil to electrical- and many, if not most, are good old boy types. They may not drink oleatos at the cafe, but they’ll design and build a damn-safe bridge or building.

I’m probably closer politically to you than them, but a truly bad take needs to be called out.

They had 6 temporary lanes open in < 2 weeks and opened the permanent replacement in < 5 months.

And what difference would that make? The crash occured due to mechanical failure of the boat. A pilot would be helpless to do anything about that.

I'm never one to take up for Mayor Pete... but FFS, when a 100,000 ton ship hits a bridge pier, that bridge is a goner. Even if Bob the Builder is secretary of transportation.

That being said, I am confident that Pete's response to this incident will mainly consist of traveling the globe to view spectator events and lecture on gender-equity issues.

The Army Corps of Engineers is actually a smart move as they are competent. The only downside is that Biden/Buttigieg/Moore won't be able to showcase their DEI army of blue-haired sociologists and Baltimore City high school grads who would never get the bridge fixed.
