first off- if someone identifies as a gender different from their birth certificate and elects to transition to the opposite gender- that is 100% their own choice and if that is what they need that is their business, we live in a country that allows a lot of freedom in a lot of areas.
This is a different issue than the science and fairness of a biological male competing in a female division.
I do want to point out the facts and if we are being scientific and without allowing emotions to sway our opinions… here are some points.
-how many superstar (females by birth) athletes have we seen transition and go and compete in men’s sports. I would like to see stats.
-science is science biology is biology. Even with treatments to transition, muscle mass, height and several other factors remain more male- like giving an unfair advantage we can’t quite know the full impact vs a biological female.
ie- higher testosterone allows faster recovery, more power, and allow significant performance advantages.
we might as well let all the women take steroids to make it fair- not really but if we are looking at fairness these are the kinds of questions we need to ask.
