Who cares if they is misgendered. Nikki was born and looks like a female. No one would mistake Nikki for anything else. It is completely natural that someone (without thinking) would naturally refer to them as "she". Hannah corrected herself so that should be that. The more people point this out the more people will get peaked and realize how dumb this woowoo gender stuff is.
my post probably came off kind of ambiguous. to be clear, i agree with this take. I would expand, but this whole thing has been beaten to death.
In the heat presentation Norwegian commentator #1 put a lot of effort into talking about Hiltz' vocal activism against the Hungarian treatment of homosexuals, and about Hiltz' gender identity. He got everything right according to the book.
After the heat Norwegian commentator #2 (Rodal, OLY champ 1996) said "great job by Hiltz, the American girl finished in third", before immediately realizing he f'ed up, and to make up for his mistake he repeated everything #1 said about non-binary and the story about activism etc. Probably got the evil eye from one or both of his sidekicks and felt like he had to 'make amends'.
Guess we're lucky that only 1 athlete across 4 heats needs special treatment.
nobody is crying for a diehard track fan who is not willing to pay $6 for 10 days of track and field championships.
Where can I do that if I don't live in the US or one of the countries that carries the broadcast? Tell me please. I'm willing to pay a lot more than $6 for a good quality broadcast. And yes, I have VPNs, but I shouldn't need to play this game for every track event. I just want to be able to sign in from anywhere in the world with a subscription. If it costs $500 a year for all championship and DL meets so be it.
if that's your situation, i do feel bad. i thought the entire point of the youtube thing was so that those without any other options would have an option. where the heck do you live that doesn't carry a broadcast or have access to youtube?
Danish Sofia Thøgersen who has got several medals in European U18 and U20 and who turned eighteen 1.5 month ago ran 4:05 in heat 2. The time is NR and a further improvement of her PB set earlier this year with almost 6 seconds.

Yes, I have YouTube premium but there is no live stream. And there is no live broadcast throughout much of Asia or Africa. You would think WA would see this as a opportunity to grow the potentially huge global audience on those continents.
But the issue is much broader than the WC. For example, I have NBA all-league pass and I could watch live playoff games broadcast on TNT but not ABC. Geoblocking has created a ridiculously convoluted system. If I'm willing to pay I should have access, regardless of whatever country I happen to be in at the time. That's the way other online services work, such as analytical tools/software. There is the free or cheap version with limited funtionality and the full version with all the bells and whistles and phone support for a large subscription fee. Geography has nothing to do with it.
Ok, rant over. Back to watching the broadcast for free on CBC, which has been great, with a VPN.

Hopefully "they" will lose in the semis so we can put "their" clown show to bed for awhile.
The BBC clip is incredible. I can't stop watching it. Paula Radcliffe's facial expression gets me every time.
What is it with you Americans and your hatred of pale skinned blonds? Do tell what facial expression a human (not filled with plastic) is supposed to have and why another commentator thinks she looks like a "ghost"? Do you think everyone is either a Kardashian, a fake tanned Trump or comes from either the Hood or Mexico?

Is the use of 'they' a uniquely English language problem? I'm guessing many other languages can call someone an 'it' without it sounding disparaging, or at best making them sound like a dog or a table.
'They are' when referring to a single person can get confusing; 'they is' sounds horrific.
The champion athlete speaks to ITV News on being linked to claims of doping, saying: "It goes against everything I believe in." For more on this story: http:...

She happens to be ghoul-like, it’s not an insult, buddy. People are merely pointing out that she is hauntingly transparent, an apparition if you will. Spookily so. A crypt dweller.
