No one is being "erased" (whatever that means), but "assigning" sexes only applies to people with DSD who might have both male and female anatomy, and one set of anatomy is removed.
For everybody else, sex is observed, not "assigned."

If there is a suicide issue in the trans community (and the data on that isn't so conclusive) the response should be therapy, mental health support, love and support from their family and friends, and so on.
