I believe the fastest girl other than Wiley has a 3k pb of 9:45. If she wants to win, she has to go out there and run a sub 9:40 effort to try and break her. If it’s 10 flat pace, Wiley will likely hang on or be within striking distance to win. Should be a good race.

Nice to get back from a run and see two more wins. I was a little worried about the 3000. Not her best event and it had the shortest recovery time. I assume she will now anchor the DMR. Would love to see her throw down a hard mile and see what she can do when her legs are pretty beat up.
It wasn't a real deep field at Nationals a few weeks back. Most events didn't have a full field.
Skipping the elephant, what the season has shown is that her hs times were not a fluke. She's demonstrated that she can be counted on to run 55/2:05/4:32 w/ lots of upside. She's also a willing distance runner at xc and 3k. It won't be shocking if she runs 2:00/4:25 this spring and she will be in the field at usatf.
On the investigation, I did a little extra reading and was surprised that all 3 of Lauren and Nick Johnson and Addy went to high school and college in Huntington. They all graduated from Huntington North high school and then moved on to Huntington U (Addy 10 years later). All 3 were/are "All-America" type runners at HU. It explains (not excuses)some of the loyalty from HU, and the closeness of friendships. Lauren is no longer on HU staff.
The college is affiliated with an evangelical christian church. You don't go to Huntington for the academics or athletics. You go there because you believe in a certain way of life and want to attend a college who holds the same values...
The USTAF Indoor 1500 was more competitive than the NCAA mile will be. Both Hiltz and Hurta have 4:01 PRs and Gear ran a 4:29 mile PR in January.
And Wiley has already beaten the #1 seed in the NCAA mile at Camel City. That was the race that got her the #1 seed by chasing Wiley.
The Camel City race also had 2021 NCAA Outdoor 1500 champion Anna Camp-Bennett.
In that 2021 NCAA race, Camp-Bennett was 1st, Hurta was 2nd, Gear was 4th, and Tyynismaa was 7th. Wiley beat Camp-Bennett by 5 seconds at Camel City and Tyynismaa by 7 seconds. At USATFs. Wiley was only 1.6 behind Hurta and 0.6 behind Gear.
