J. Marcus accuses Yared Nuguse of Doping Based on.....

Ok, you think you have expertise, so please help me understand. Nuguse is 23 years old. What is your expected progression, and how long is someone allowed to improve before they are suspected of cheating? Is he supposed to have plateaued by now? Or was he not good enough at an early age? Or was he too good at an early age- or what? Please explain so we know how you figured this all out.

That is an unrealistic standard. No one can "prove" it would hinder his admittance in every dental school. But dentists and doctors are not immune to getting hooked on the drugs available to them (particularly pain killers which both types of professional prescribe). Might the programs consider a person who chose to use drugs to get an edge to not have a strong principle to avoid drugs? Seems reasonable to me. (My older son is married to a dentist and confirmed that there were questions regarding drug use in her admission process. Of course, I can't opine that it is universal.) And even if a former athlete gained admission to dental or medical school with a PED bust on their record, that doesn't mean that the state in which they want to practice will give them a license.

As an example, there are cases of applicants with criminal records getting into law school, but even more cases of such applicants being rejected. Moreover, a lot of people in the first group graduate from law school and still are unable to convince the state bar that they deserve a law license.

But the real point is that given the possibility of denial of admission or refusal to grant a license after spending years studying and paying a lot for tuition, would a smart and talented guy take that chance given his pro career, and the money that comes with it, could end any day?

I don't have the required expertise, and never said I did, but I've been reading Letsrun for decades and I know everyone will think "doping" when someone like Nuguse suddenly runs 3:47 indoors. (I even wrote, "If he's clean, it's awesome and the future is bright.")

If you don't at least consider it, then I think you're naive. That's all I'm saying. No science. No evidence. I never wrote I had it all figured out like you so confidently assert I do. I don't want him to be doping, i'm rooting for him.

It's the sport. Rapid progression is suspect, even if it's hard work and talent and not aided by PEDs. Unfortunately, almost every human being on earth has no idea if these guys are cheating or not, so it's hard to truly enjoy and take at face value. Not one person on this forum, well maybe Renato Canova, know if these dudes are cheating with PEDs. Everyone is an idiot when it comes to the subject and speculating and making bad judgements so stop acting like you have a clearer picture of the situation.

And I think it's funny that Galen Rupp, a guy who ran 13:37 in high school, got more people suspicious of him than a lot of guys running faster than he ever did. Especially when some of them are/were on the same team as a woman who got caught and convicted of PEDs.

Apologies if I'm cynical, but i'm honestly only capable of being less skeptical of super young people running fast because they are less likely (i hope!) to be on a doping program.

It's kinda sad to watch somebody obsessed with running attempt to become a coach at a time when more good coaches are needed, fail every athlete he works with, then pivot into full-time provocateur internet pundit posting baseless doping hot takes on admirable athletes and other nonsensical bad advice while disgracing the few real coaches who had previously associated publicly with him. I hope he gets better psychologically but suspect he'll remain the same troll forever.

Abby Steiner said she was drug tested after her AR for it to be ratified. I'm sure the same for Nuguse. Still possible to have done peds, but at time of his AR, he was clean.

Athletes will dope in training but not in competition. So they pass the test. But they still will have doped.

With all this talk around Nuguse and Rojo's response here, I'd like to ask: does this apply to Mo Katir as well? Rojo heavily implied that he thought Katir was dirty in 2021 but what age was Katir in that year when he made his huge jump? 22 going on 23.

If we accept that Nuguse is clean (and I do), let's apply the same standard to Katir. He was the real deal back in 2021 when he broke through, and he's the real deal now running a European Record that was under the old World Record.

So far, i've seen him point the finger at NOP, Jerry, not just Nuguse, but the whole of On Athletic Club and now Washington University.
