US Marshalls actually held someone at gunpoint at their hotel room in North Carolina because they looked like Laundrie and someone called it in. Fortunately for them, they had ID and did not have tattoos that Laundrie had. So there was at least presumably similar looking guy around there...
It's actually insane to think that the only explanation for the parents finding the body was that it's a conspiracy and they are in on it. Are they not more likely to know where he might be based on the fact he's been there before and probably talked to them about it? Them knowing where to look doesn't immediately suggest some kind of crazy cover-up. That combined with the fact the area was underwater until recently means it makes sense the parents would be likely to find him once they were able to join the search. If any members of my family went missing in an area they were known to frequent, I'd have a decent idea of the best places to look.
Abusers typically don't become abusers without experiencing abuse themselves. Chances are his father was an abuser. Chances are his father killed him. After the torment from the public/press got too much - and long enough for nature to scrub away any evidence - he led LE right to where the body was.
Law enforcement should lean on the elder Laundrie a while, maybe take him in a time or two.

So do we know more about the nature of his remains they found? Looks like it was just bones but the skull was intact enough for them to ID teeth. How does he go from flesh to skull in a month? Gators usually crunch up bone and all. Are there piranhas in the reserve that neatly skin the flag leaving the bones intact?

Large gators eat from the head down. They do that because limbs are easier to get down. A small gator is more likely. They stash a food source, generally pushing it underwater under roots, and make return trips. Seems like a gruesome end.
The FBI botched the hell out of this case from the start. How convenient that they happen to stumble upon him in such obviously staged circumstances. Would not be surprised if they cut a deal with the family to “find the body” to shut the case down and let Brian have his way in South America.

Might be more likely to be wild pig which will really eat anything and that park is very likely full of them.

FBI wanted to get the media of their back. This seems all too convenient to do just that. I’ll believe that body is his when there’s an independent dna analysis to confirm it. Until then that loser may very well be alive.
The news said the “human remains” were just some bones and they ID’d teeth with the “skull”. You do realize they’d would have said head, not skull, if it had skin on it, right?
A lot of ants in Florida, and they will strip a corpse very quickly. Not to mention dermestid beetles.

This theory makes the most sense. I know some people are pro-FBI and want to believe what they are told, but that agency has a terrible history of incompetence, lies and fraud. Just look at this botched case. The FBI needed this shut down - the media made this their top story, and the FBI looked worse with each passing day. They were under immense pressure, and the facts here all point to a staged scene at the park.

Every been to a Civil War battlefield? They buried the dead where they died in most cases, moving the bodies to proper cemeteries at a later time. Do you think they found all 6,000 bodies at Gettysburg? If you ever go to Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield near Atlanta, there is an unknown Soldier buried right on the trail. During the Great Depression when the Civilian Conservation Corps was doing preservation work on the battlefield they found his remains. People had been walking over his grave for 70 years. They decided to leave him there and put a marker on his grave. His was one of many undiscovered graves that still dot out nations battlefields.
People have been buried all over since the arrival of humans here. How do you know some Native American who died 1,000 years ago was not buried right under your current house?
