This was my 3rd attempt at the elusive marathon egg & spoon world record, on 5th July 2015. We had some fun making it & I hope that translates to the finishe...
- breaks the law when driving - breaks the law with his drone - leaves heavily pregnant wife to go do a 6hr round trip for a run up a hill + some pressups on a mat at a track (for no reason) - makes excuses for injuries (see: 'sitting on an airplane injured me') and avoids accountability - fails in his responsibility to set an example for his fanbase, by championing his method of overtraining - gives nutritional advice to followers when doesn't understand it himself - gives advice to followers on topics he hasn't read up on (see: injuries) - argues with majority of health specialists he sees when diagnosing injuries he has - cuts TL down in conversation in the majority of videos when she makes suggestions, so he can keep the facade of 'the knowledgeable one' - avoids any kind of direct or honest questions from fanbase unless it's brown-nosing him, will go to 9month old videos for 'comment of the day' to avoid recent comments & even actively deletes comments from anyone trying to (constructively) question him - doesnt care about the freebies/gifts his followers send him, to jumps straight to the shoes from the big corporate companies
and thats without mentioning the fake accent or naming his son after himself (which imo is very self indulgent)
- giving used shoes in the wrong size to a kid as a present and then vlogging it all to make him look charitable - trying to employ people with a payment method of used shoes - doing shoe reviews when he has only done a single run in the pair
-Claiming to miss his marathon goals because of all the "lactic acid" build up in his muscles
-Never volunteering for any trail work days even though a majority of his channel profits off of the abuse of free public trails (i.e running them while muddy, running off trail, flying a loud ass drone around him as he runs, etc)
Honestly, I don't understand why he wouldn't want to volunteer, he could get out of the house and away from his family for an entire day and spend the majority of his volunteer time setting up different camera angles while he pretends to use a shovel. It would make for some great fictitious philanthropy content! I can see him now talking into his camera as the rest of the team actually does all of the work behind him...

-Comparing himself to Ryan Hall after his last marathon while carrying around his book that he never finished (or started)

He barely, barely mentioned the complete whiff on the original OTQ goal and instead just repitched it as a success as he ran a very marginal PB
Go avs go! Go avs go! WHAT is going on, DGR fah-mah-lee?! Just back here in the shoedio, and I thought, you know what Seth, you sure talk about HEEL COUNTERS a lot, maybe I should do a whole video on them? Hah! Well, as you know, DGR family, I care a lot about a properly designed HEEL COUNTER. Some shoes just don't have them done right. If I were a YouTube professor, which I'm pretty much knowledgeable enough to be, my first lecture would be about the HEEL COUNTER. Now, some of you don't care that much about the HEEL COUNTER, but let me assure you, the HEEL COUNTER is an absolutely vital piece of a properly made running shoe. If the HEEL COUNTER is too stiff, it can chafe, which can definitely cause an injury, a lot like a stiff airplane seat can. If the HEEL COUNTER is too soft, then the shoe will have bad lockdown. It's like that, goldilocks zone - getting that HEEL COUNTER right. I really do like the Mach series by Hoka for that HEEL COUNTER, but the Nike Pegasus has a great HEEL COUNTER too. Alright! Next up, I'm going to be discussing the GUSSETED tongues in my next video, and I will throw up a link to a video about LOCKDOWN, raht thurr raht thurr raght thurr. OK! Seek beauty. Work harrrrd. And love each other. See you to.
Another shoe video today but not pre-recorded as he is on crutches. Just found it interesting that he once again asked Nike to send him some Alphafly 2s at 10:35.
You are guaranteed to have tons of views with Alphafly 2. Like I pointed out pages ago, any serious youtuber has reviewed them.
Seth instead would review some toilet paper sent in for free, rather than do some factual work on his decadent channel.
I wouldn’t trust his opinion anyway, but I really hope he doesn’t get them and nike and other brands start cutting him off. His reviews are totally nonesense now

This is the stuff that irks me most about his channel. Running is a relatively simple sport and the DGR fan base is not aiming for high performance. Sure, someone might be looking for a BQ but the vast majority are para-social followers and running lifestyle folks. What upsets me is that he over complicates things - there are 13 different types of training runs, you need a half dozen different shoe types to train for a marathon, etc. It's just bullsh** and he is not reading the room. Debbie with the 38 minute 5K PR wants to see mountains and the new baby. Bob, the 50 year old that dreams of a sub 5 hour marathon is looking for validation of his long efforts at 10-11 minute pace. Everything that SJD does now is vanity driven mumbo jumbo to make himself feel smart. Huge insecurity on display and loads of garbage information aimed at people that don't know any better.
Hey, Seth - why would Nike send a pair of AlphaFly 2 for testing to a guy that is hobbling around on crutches and a knee scooter? By the time you can run again the hype will be over, other sites will have reviewed it thoroughly, new colorways will have already dropped, and your review (a solid 7.2 - going to ding it on price, durability, and the fact that it weighs over 7 ounces) will be utterly pointless.
The shoe reviews suck and SJD clearly doesn't understand biomechanics.
His training advice is crap and he has no understanding of physiology.
He doesn't know nor does he really care about his audience. His package haul videos are proof of that.
Most people just need two pairs of shoes - a dependable and supportive daily trainer and something lighter and more responsive set for races and quality workouts. There is absolutely no need to spend $150 to get a steasy day gravel road shoe or to drop another chunk of change to have a special carbon plated shoe for rainy tempo runs between Labor Day and Columbus Day.

That was big time cringe. He basically reminded them, like they are supposed to send him a pair and they are forgetting. Dude, Nike doesn't owe you jack s***. Go buy a pair if you want to run in them so bad, man does he look sad and desperate.
if SjD really saw his channel as a business, he should just purchase a pair of AF2 as the ad revenue he'll receive is much more than the cost of the shoe. Plus it's a write off for business expense.

Could not agree more. I watched the video just to see how many different categories he would preach. As has also been pointed out, he says pretty much the same thing about every shoe and scores arbitrarily scores them pretty much the same.
Entitlement mentality at work. I "DESERVE" free stuff because I create value for billion dollar brands.
Another thing that I thought about, why does SJD recommend all of these different shoes or different workout types while building for a marathon? When he trains for one, all he ever does is mountain runs, slow jogs around downtown Denver, and the sporadic track workout. He really seems to promote tempo and threshold efforts but never consistently does them himself. If he pivots to coaching, ask those questions before you give him any money!

steven I think you're funny and enjoy your content, but I'm not sure anyone believes there's a devoted gnoza stan following this thread and posting relevant videos
Not Steven, but I am a dedicated fan of his work. I am finding it hilarious that he isn't being subtle about it any longer. I also love that it shows up as a YouTube suggestion after the latest DGR offerings. The algorithm has a sense of humor.
