It banned as many Muslims as Trump thought he could get away with.

It was a Muslim ban. The ban was created with the express purpose of keeping Muslims from entering the country. Trump told you that's what he wanted and that's what he did.

The courts considered it to be a Muslim ban, which is why the first two versions were struck down.

How do we (by we I mean, can you help me) figure out ANTIFA protesting AGAINST Biden? Now, to be fair I would have liked Biden to address this quickly. Not a good look to say nothing if he is looking to unite this very divided country.

But, I always assumed ANTIFA did what it did in support of the left and against the right. Looks like this version of the group/idea/movement whatever, is simply against government.

Eight people were arrested on vandalism and weapons charges. Nobody injured.

It probably merits a written condemnation from Biden via the White House press office. Biden wouldn't want to give them more publicity than that.

The good news continues to roll in on the covid front.

In the US new cases (7 day average) is falling sharply every day and is now 25% below its early January high.

Deaths are down 7%.

Even Israel is getting some traction, finally. New case counts there are down 10% from highs, after stubbornly hanging in there despite the high levels of vaccination there.

Deaths in Israel have not started falling - at all time highs unfortunately.

Israel is 9.83% fully vaccinated (28.2% have had at least one shot)

The US is 0.72% fully vaccinated. (4.55% have had at least one shot)

A freakin' 5th grader suggesting "looking into" those things to their science teacher would have been very embarrassing. And we had the POTUS doing that to a senior administrator/doctor. And while he didn't look into the camera and say, "Do this," he is the POTUS and there are a LOT of dumb people in the country. Those comments were NOT "misunderstandings" of Trump by the (left) media.

I should also point out the success the UK is having.

Case counts are down 32% from the first week in January peak

Deaths still at all time highs tho...will take a few weeks to see improvement there.

UK is one of the most successful at vaccinations.

I'm a little disappointed that more people aren't willing to accept the ambiguity in Trump's statements about 'fine people' and the 'muslim ban.'

A few things:

1) Not sure that there is a lot of ambiguity in the Muslim ban issue.

2) Regarding arguably ambiguous things that any human says, factored into whether or not you want to give them the benefit of the doubt is what you otherwise know about the person. In Trump's case, if you KNOW that he lies like most breath, AND says un-ambiguously bad things on a regular basis, why would you be the least bit inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt regarding arguably ambiguous comments? You wouldn't.

Although, for political purposes, since you have SO MUCH other ammunition on him, it's perhaps best to give him a pass on the more ambiguous stuff, so as to minimize turning off those on the fence (hard left folks neglect such thinking at their peril). But again, logically, not giving him the benefit of the doubt makes ALL the sense in the world.

3) Lastly, and least important for someone as bad as Trump, there is what others have mentioned: He's a public figure and politician. The most important politician in the world. He's responsible for communicating clearly. He didn't and doesn't. OK, maybe he's not good on his feet. He could always come back and CLARIFY. Did he most of the time? No. That strongly suggests that he's not terribly opposed to the negative interpretations.

Like most things Trump did, it was a symbol of hatred and racism to appease his base. The few miles of stupid wall be built (by taking money from military projects, NOT having Mexico pay for it) was just a symbol of hate. That wall keeps old fat people like Trump from getting over it, but that's it. Biden's plan of using technology is much better.

Any predictions on how many Rs will vote to convict? Right now I'd say 7. Mitch is pushing it back hoping the sense of urgency to hang him will drop. The main Dem argument will be to prevent trump from ever holding office again. Rs will simply claim the whole trial is a waste of time, not necessary nor legal and will use the usual whataboutisms (but antifa!).

It's ambiguous. Sure he wanted to ban muslims. But he didn't. Hard to call something a muslim ban when it it no way banned muslims.

as for benefit of the doubt...flip it around. The non-R world is completely ready to believe the worst about DJT. So whenever they say something...at least think over the possibility that the non-Trump world is knee-jerking reaction against trump and assuming the worst. So be careful accepting that consensus as true. It's very clear that Trump said there were fine people, but only in the group peacefully protesting the removal of confederate statues. He very carefully and unambiguously said he wasn't talking about the tiki torch or antifa guys. It's very clear, not ambiguous.

I'll agree that Trump's manner of talking lets the bad elements in America believe Trump is with them.
