The favorites, Fullerton, Ash and Madeo, qualified for the 5k final without any problems. It will be a mega final because everyone looked relatively relaxed and so dominant in the preliminary rounds.

In the women’s 4x8, an unnamed team who qualified for finals had a leg that wore Vaporflys (a World Athletics track banned shoe). From my understanding, an appeal was filed and subsequently denied with the reasoning that it was not able to be determined that this specific model of shoe was illegal. The NAIA claims to follow the NCAA handbook, which clearly states the illegality of these shoes. Thoughts on this?
Live results from Gainesville
Payton Mauldin high 44 split on anchor👀. In the prelims.
whoosh
Did anyone else catch everything Olivet Nazarene’s DMR 1600 leg did?
Ran a really dirty race and knocked the baton out of the Lawrence tech guy’s hand like 600m into their leg.

College of St. Mary (NE)
Cumberlands best RW kid DQd. Looks like actually officiating it along with the prelim and finals made an impact
I knew OKC would get DQd after seeing them utilize the Russian Triple Breath-In and Single Breath-Out technique. They should have known it was too obvious after the rule set back in 73' when College of the Bearman used it. Impressive race by Cornerstone, still would have liked to see where they would've ended if their coach didn't tell them to hold back.

Olivet is known to race dirty in track. Heard a lot of stories from guys in the CCAC of certain individuals running dirty or being obnoxious in races.
The only problem is, he didn’t take off and run like the guy that passed the leader and gapped him by fifty meters over last 200.The event needs to go away. It’s not officiated properly at all. The officials went back-and-forth for a good 60 to 90 minutes.
Is there a team more unlikable than Cumberlands? Sowder doesn’t know sh** aside from buying talent and wearing pants that are too tight
Friend please stop looking at me like that. That is a lot of paperwork.
Thoughts on today…
M 800 - Peralta runs away with the victory though Long closes with a faster last lap. Not as fast of a time as expected.
M 1000 - Neidig pulls off the victory though Mollins NEARLY got him at the line.
M Mile - Woodall takes it from the gun and breaks the NAIA record at 4:01. Butler takes second easily at 4:06. Le Mouillour, a Keiser freshman, completes the 800 mile double with 3rd in both. Impressive meet from Woodall though with a 1:49 and 1:50 split in the 4x800 too.
M 3000 - Expected victory from Asslouj. The rest of the field finished about where expected but Ash finishes out of All-American.
M 5000 - Madeo somehow has a kick remaining after Fullerton closes a 6 second gap to catch him with about 800 left. Very fast and impressive times for both at 14:06 and 14:10. Jenkins under 14:20 too.
M DMR - Incredible race, potentially the one of the meet. Trevino hawks down Asslouj after Asslouj prematurely celebrates. This race clutched the team title for Marian. Of note: Butler anchors COI to All-American with a 4:07 after opening in a 55 400 and 1:57 800.
Women’s thoughts…
W 600 - Antkoviak with a massive 6 second win. Sub 1:27 and a new NAIA record by 2.5 seconds. She also anchored the 4x4 with a 52 split.
W 800 - The field was tight coming in. Nothing astounding.
W 1000 - Holadia takes it with a 2:53. Mays challenged her in the last lap but ultimately faded. Dylan Garcia finishes back in fourth, likely tired from her 5th of 6 races.
W Mile - Another shocker here. Kylie Sauder closes like a train with a 30 last 200 to overtake both Garcia and Katie Woods. Surprising to see Woods finish out of contention. These times were very fast compared to the prelims.
W 3000 - Kearney and Fredericks pull away. Kearney saved a huge kick for the end. The field separated early on.
W 5000 - Jaynie Halterman just misses the 16 minute barrier at 16:00.12. She looks to be extremely dominant this year and likely has potential to run 15:35-15:40 when placed in a competitive and evenly paced race. Heather Murphy in second runs a blazing 16:33 that gets overshadowed here.
W DMR - The Masters manages to win both relays with incredible times. Their time of 11:38 breaks the NAIA record from 2010. Taylor finishes where projected. Dylan Garcia in her sixth race runs a 4:52-4:53 split. Crazy meet from her given how thin she spread herself.
Biggest winners on the distance side (I could be forgetting some but these stood out the most):
Men
1. Bryn Woodall - 4:01 meet record and anchored a 7:31 (prelim) and 7:29 (final) meet record team.
2. Luis Peralta - same as Woodall but takes the 800 crown.
3. Tristan Trevino - 4th in the 800 and DMR victory against a sub 4 miler.
4. Yanis Le Mouillour - 3rd in mile and 800.
5. Daniel Butler - a fast 2nd at 4:06 and and anchored an All-American DMR team.
Women biggest winners (hopefully I've examined the whole meet thoroughly)...
1. Ellen Palmgren and Hannah Fredericks. Palmgren ran both national champion relays (2:11 and 3:32 finals splits), which included holding off Katie Woods in the 4x800, and Fredericks ran the DMR, 4x800, and got second in the 3000.
2. Dylan Garcia. 2nd in mile, 4th in 1000, and 3rd in DMR. Showed her strength in this meet.
3. Jaynie Halterman. Only runs one race but an incredible time.
4. Ellen-Mary Kearney. She clearly would have beat anyone who would have decided to run the 3k (minus likely Halterman).
5. Kylie Sauder. Her 4x800 team had a poor showing in finals but still got All-American. However, her upset in the mile was a shocker and she rightfully deserves a shoutout here.
6. Abby Mays and Noel Vanderwall. Vanderwall was fourth in the mile and anchored the DMR to second. Mays was second in the 1000 and led off the DMR. Strong showing from both.
Almost forgot - Trevino anchored his 4x800 team to second. This puts him at number 2 over Peralta and almost up there with Woodall.
I do not feel that way. They look like they are having fun as a team and compete. as a matter of fact, all the teams that are scoring in the top three or four act and look pretty similar. Marion and Cumberlands are a fun match up and if you stayed you would’ve seen them embracing each other. if the top two teams can respect each other I don’t see why you can’t but you do have a right to your own opinions
changing the topic Indiana tech has really fallen off. haven’t they? you know they are recruiting big time and put them in the mix with Marion and Cumberlands plus what life‘s been doing. The future of these programs are bright

Absolutely brutal two races for Ash.
3k he ultimately came up a few seconds short and you have to wonder if he could’ve got it without a 5k prelim under his belt.
5k he lead a small pack for half the race just for Reif to blow past him at the line and take the last All-American
Really gutsy performance but the choice to not just focus on one or the other ultimately cost him both races
Sowder facts
1. he knows
2. he doesn’t develop anyone. Check world athletics and check his teams tfrrs.
3. he wore keds the last two days.
4. Derek white carried the Cumberland Women’s team to the title. If he doesn’t go to Cumberland they don’t win today.
5. tight pants
6. he pays scholarbook a ton of money to get all these kids placed most leave after a year or two
7. Race walking mohawked legend left in tears after the meet. Sowder no where to be found to console him…
8. Sowder skips leg day, big upper guy…
