Oh well, at least he didn't do a Rossi.
Didn't this thread split typically?
People accustomed to elite racing are familiar with the conventional competition rules, and do not expect flouting rules to be taken lightly.
Hobbyjoggers who are accustomed to flouting rules, and rewarding all finishers, do not expect rule-breakers to be punished.
These two camps are really in different sports, as it evidenced every time a debate like this arises.
Pete's sake; I'm not going to listen to him blather on slowly for 9 minutes.
Can someone just post the decision?
He's not DQ'ed, the second placer finisher withdrew the protest and says he couldn't have caught/run faster than him. The bloke blathering in that video is delighted with the publicity and says around the world people are talking about it and gave examples, reckons it augurs well for next years race.

WTF, hobby joggers have been commenting? I thought everyone on the LetsRun World Famous Message Board was an "elite", earned $250k a year, had a model wife, etc, etc.
Yep, the same people who agree with the decision are the same people who agree with prize money based on chip time.
if you consider receiving free PowerBar product each month as elite then, yes, many letsrun message board runners can be considered elite.
Great job by the officials not bowing to the outrage from the SJW crowd and just delivering a clearly explained decision.

This is the attitude that keeps AMERICAN ELITES away from these races. They are not set up for the Jared Ward or Galen Rupp's. They are set up for 3rd rate Africans. The mind set of the entire production is different.
This decision would have been completely different at Boston or Chicago or New York. It would have also been different at up and coming races like Pittsburgh or Cal International.
This decision was consistent for this type of race. A non sanctioned hobby jogger race that is unimportant to anyone that cares about the competitive side of the sport.
You realize that if you ran a sub 2:19 that it would not have been an Olympic Trials qualifier because this race was not sanctioned. It is no more a race than the March of Dimes Fun Walk. Just a gathering that utilizes the name Marathon to make a few local joggers happy.
You could have pocketed an easy $6000 if you had not stayed away from Cleveland.
Your competition would have been local hobby joggers.
I don’t believe you. Almost everything you state is false. By saying “not set up for Ward or Rupp” do you mean don’t pay Olympian sized appearance fees? Many races don’t/can’t. Maybe you can’t get an OQ, but I used my time there to qualify for Boston.
You sound bitter. I hope you can find something to smile about if this is the sort of thing that gets you all riled up. There are way bigger thoughts consuming most people’s minds.
Cheers.
