The tester AND the coach were caught. The collusion is massive during the season, all of it politically protected for the most part. These two must have screwed up. Out of season of course the E. Africans and others are literally never tested. And several reports list Rotich's coach as being 34. How old is he really? 34? 64?

I think the coach was hungry.. A little lunch is all. Maybe the test collectors were hungry too. There they are at the Quiznos getting double meat on their meaty sandwiches and it all just came together. "Dude! There's the guy I need to test!! Whoaa!!"

FAKE DRUG TESTING is the norm today.
The issue is the use of sports interns, federation staff, high school coaches, university staff, sports medicine staff, etc., etc. to monitor sampling, control samples, make up the testing schedule, etc. In other words there are hundreds of weak spots where samples can be nullifies/tainted, and thousands of opportunities for athletes to be informed ahead of time.
It's plausible that this incident is grounds for banning the coach, but not Rotich himself. The real problem is that pro track and field in particular and the Olympics in general have long since lost credibility on this issue (i.e., the effectiveness of the entire drug testing system). And that is even more the case for athletes from certain countries, one of which is Kenya.
