She has improved her 1500m PR by less than a second. You make it sound like Salazar has done something miraculous.

Gotta give him credit though. He's got everyone thinking in his program is so incredible but the results are really not all that special. Farah is his only real special result and even that is kind of debatable. Salazar is a public relations genius.

Hey knucklehead, great runners can struggle for years without a PB or with trying to crack a barrier such as 4:00. She pb'ing in every event, breaking significant barriers, setting an AR all in one season and you think it's ho hum? You must be setting world records right now with the kind of progress you think deserves praise.

Isn't the issue more that you have a top athlete who had already served a drugs ban (for whatever reason) who was then willing to put himself in a positive where he picked up another one? Why should believe any time he runs now?

Gatlin is an ex-doper and will always be considered an ex-doper. (That's fair) It's also fair to say Gatlin under Coach Graham knew he was doping, lied about it and still hasn't been completely honest about it. But to also be fair, his first positive at age 20 for an undeclared usage of an ADHD medicine should have been counted against Tennessee and not Gatlin. Like millions of Americans, Gatlin had been taking Ritalin since grade school, Tennessee knew about it and failed to file the paperwork. (That's it). I consider Gatlin a one time doper, but if you want to consider him a 2 time doper, that's ok. He received the penalty for a second positive, which should have ended his career, but it didn't. If you don't believe in redemption, which I do, at least accept the fact that he served his time and should be allowed to move on. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the AD NGB and IGBs and not Gatlin.

I spoke to Gatlin about 2.5 years into his suspension and was surprised to find out that he never stopped training. In spite of losing 4 years in the prime of his career, Gatlin was absolutely convinced he could run just as fast without drugs. He said this to a lot of people and was looking forward to one day being able to prove it. If you still think Gatlin is on drugs and/or he is still getting some benefit from his drug use 10 years ago...I would like to say are crazy, but I will just say misinformed. If you want to know why he is doing so well now, first off, he is extremely talented. His high school and college performances tells you that he didn't need PEDs to run fast. Gatlin ran 10 flat and 19.86 at age 20; the talk back then was he's the air apparent to Mo Green.

The stigma of being an ex-doper will always be with Gatlin, (I get that), but just like no one forgets that the Apostle Paul use to kill Christians, yet we hail him as a hero for what he did in the second part of his life. I am not equating Gatlin with the Apostle Paul, but making the point about forgiveness, redemption and if nothing else respect AD governing bodies' wisdom and judgment.
