but the point is that the wrong stars were at this meet - I mean reese hoffa had about the loudest cheers. then manzano. No one really cares about jenn suhr, vlasic (yes), uceny, rowbury...

these are 2nd tier names and there weren't enough fanous people to get the crowd excited.

The weather was miserable. Just didn't look like a nice day to go to a track meet.

I just got back as well, and agree it's not a great meet. I've been to Pre and it just blows that meet out of the water.

My two cents.. terrible announcing and interviewing (by Mo Greene) in the sense that it didn't get the crowd involved. Blanka Vlasic was such a show-woman, amazing athlete and so great with the crowd. But half the time the audience wasn't even paying attention when she was about to jump. The announcer did say one time, Blanka Vlasic wants your attention! And Brigetta Barrett, a great sport, helped lead the clapping to get the crowd involved when Vlasic was jumping.

I wasn't aware the women's PV was supposed to be in front of the stands; that could have helped a lot, but as it was, I hardly even knew it was going on from where I was sitting at the top of the home stretch.

It's just a totally different crowd than you would find in Eugene or somewhere else. Half of them are just cheering for whoever is Jamaican and only care about the sprints and getting peoples' autographs. Which is fine! there are all types of fans, and track needs all of them. But I didn't see many people like myself who were just looking to take in some quality performances in all events.

The weather was so awful, that may have been 80 percent of the problem.

wrong - millrose was fantastic this year - passionate and spectacular. The adidas meet was better in prior years.

The races were wrong this year, not enough americans showed up...if lagat or bolt or cain or farmer patrick had showed up it would been much, much better

Exactly my point... you're pissing and moaning about it not being good enough. You're an entitled little whiner. And so track and field in America is failing because you can't even appreciate something so simple as watching track. YOU deserve better. Track is dying because of the lack of support... even on these boards there's really no support. And so it should die.

switching the meet to memorial day weekend was just plain stupid. the weather was bad but it's not like 1000s of people bought tickets and no-showed. the crowd would have been small even if it had been 80s and sunny as there weren't even temporary stands on the back straightaway (like prior years).
