Best comment you've ever gotten while running?

Three years ago (when I was 60 years old), I was running along the Truckee River bike path from Tahoe City (Lake Tahoe) to Squaw Valley during my high mileage and high altitude vacation. As I do 95% of the year, I was only wearing my shorts, shoes, and socks. A woman about 30 years old was riding her bicycle in the opposite direction (towards Tahoe City) on the small bike path. About 10 meters before we passed each other, she said, "Thanks for the GREAT VIEW!"

Once a drunk woman yelled "take off your pants" to a group of us running through a park.

Another time, I was running through a mostly black neighborhood in college with most of the team. The one black team member was probably leading the group by about 100 meters. A kid yelled "catch that black guy, he's a nerd."

A 27:XX guy told me I run like a 35:XX guy (my PR is 38:XX).

Here are some of them:

tempo run on a grass field which has an elementary school near it, I'm running it shirtless and in split shorts because of the temperature (mid summer). some kid thinks he is funny by saying "HEY LOOK, ITS CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS"

I've gotten tons of "Homo", "I LOVE YOU", "Nice Shorts", etc. comments and I don't even think twice on them, just continue on with my run.

If either you are running in a group or you are running past a group, "RUN FORREST RUN!" is nicely responded with "THANKS, JENNAY!".

On the other hand, my HS teacher yelled this at me during an XC race before a hill with 500m to go chasing someone: "_______, THIS GUY HATES HILLS! HE HATES HILLS!" knowing that I am not a hill runner.

Finally, I've gotten chirped by other runners a lot on my running form. in a 3000m race where I frontran, I hear this comment towards each of my rivals: "HIS FORM IS BREAKING DOWN, ATTACK NOW". ironically, one of those 2 DNF'ed due to a stress fracture.

"SUCK HIS AZZ UP!" - one of my teammates (sprinter) yelling at me during the last lap of a race. didn't do any sucking of the guy ahead of me, but I got a good laugh

"BUST HIM UP!" - from a random ~250 lb black guy in a gas station parking lot. I was in 3rd in a road race at the time, he gave me the boost to run down 2nd and 1st. Ended up getting beat the last 100, finished 2nd

I've also been told my leg muscles are "vicious" and I look good sweaty. I'm taking them both as compliments

A few years ago I was doing a tempo run on a rail trail, and passed a man on a bike both on the way out and back. As I was cooling down, he passed me, and told me, "Son, you were running so fat, and you looked like you floating, just floating!"

Another time I was running in one of the Boilermaker training runs, which is just an organized 10K that some people treat as a race. I was talking to a woman I knew for the first few minutes, then decided to try to run somewhat hard for the rest of the run. As I took off, I heard the woman's friend say to her, "Man, he looks like he could just fly!"

Another time, I showed up to a small podunk 5K and only one other person there offered me any sort of competition. I ended up winning and he took second a few strides behind me, while third place was over four minutes back. As we were changing out of our flats, a little kid, maybe around 10 or 12, came up to us and asked us if we were professional runners.

My favorite though is one time when I was running around campus when I was in college, and a hick in a pickup truck rolled down his window and yelled, "Keep running, you fatty!" I was 5'10" and 125 pounds then.

Running Portland Marathon shirtless. Around mile 20 got a "Way to go hairy monster!" comment.

The main road in town was undergoing construction and was completely closed to traffic. I was turned the corner onto the street just as an end loader was backing up. I decided to race and he did too. The end loader raced me 3 blocks all out in reverse. He then told me how many mph we hit.

Another time the local aging crack head pulled alongside me and yelled out the window that I could quit running as the police were no longer chasing me.

Doing a tempo run on a loop bike path, woman coming the other way says:

"You be comin' 'round here like Jesse Owens."

"Damn it"

Two summers ago, I passed a group of black guys on the other side of the road from me. A few of them complimented me on my ass, and I'm pretty sure they were serious as most of the group said something to that effect and none of them started laughing after I had gotten further ahead.

Just to be clear, I don't look the least bit feminine; I'm a really pale dude with short hair and a beard.

While running in a neighborhood, I ran past two kids who were probably 8-10 years old. One of them sprints after me yelling "Hey! Hey! Are you a nerd?" I've had many questions asked of me while on a run (usually of the "What are you running for?" variety), but that was certainly a first

I was finishing some striders at the end of a run and this elderly couple commented on how good my form was, and how great it was to watch someone who obviously loved what he was doing. They must have been watching me run along the boardwalk or something. Gave me such a lift, thank you whoever you two are.

Also ran around the block a few times one morning and this elderly man cheered every time I passed.

Running in Westchester, PA one morning without a shirt and a little black kid ran up to me and said "Yo man, put your bird back in its cage!"

I laughed all the way home.

When I was in high school I used to run on a trail that goes through a nice neighborhood. There's a lake with a big grassy hill beside it that some condos sit on. There were some yuppies that lived there one summer and they liked to grill out and get drunk. Once they yelled at me, "Hey, lookin' good . . . want to come have a beer?" I stopped, drank a beer, talked for a while, then ran home.

I was once jogging along the streets on the way to the track with a group of Ethiopians who had come for a couple of months to race in the uk.

Half of them were wearing their Ethiopian track suits.

We jogged past this old couple in their garden who had obviously seen them a few times. The guy stopped me and asked 'Do they play for County'. Stockport County the local soccer club who's stadium was round the corner.

A girl asked me if I had a cigarette on me.

So, I'm pretty clearly a guy. I got a "Nice legs!" at an intersection. From a cop in his car. On his bullhorn.

My high school team was at a rust-buster early season meet where it was a relay where each leg was a 1.5 mile loop. I was just doing it as a tempo workout but was a baller, so I was still passing people. One kid I passed got startled and goes, "Holy s*#t! Oh good job man." A couple months later I started dating a girl and found out it was one of her good friends.
