Yet their bests would have beat him this year and last. HE'S DONE. His list of superlatives ends there. Fine by American standards yet underachieved per his potential when all the marbles were on the line in the biggest races. Should have at least one, more like two OG/WC medals on that stat line, and he doesn't because he got undone by his own ten-cent head. Does that point continue to elude you, does it sail over your head, does it have to hit you square in the face to get it?

None of those guys you name hold a candle to him.

Yup, it's impressive if you're also ignoring the fact that none of the other top 1500 guys in this era run rabbited record attempts in the mile, as Webb did. They all run them in races with actual competition and varied tactics. So not that impressive.
So guys like Snell, Ryun, Bayi, Elliot,Scott, Coe, Ovett, Walker aren't impressive? Because they all ran slower then Webb over the 4 lap distance. I can't believe we are still talking about this! I believe Webb is number 2 all-time in the mile of runners of non-african descent. Even if the best runners in the world today ran the mile more than the 1500, I don't see many running faster than 3:46. Certainly nobody in the USA. It's extremely fast. It sounds like the crux of your argument is based on medals at major championship races. Am I correct? Tell you what, go up to any of those legends and tell them that 3:46 and 8th All-Time isn't impressive. To a man they would laugh in your face.

I didn't say it was unimpressive. You people are so dumb. All I'm saying is tobe truthful and honest when recognizing Webb's accomplishments. His ranking in the mile isent an honest stat because no one runs that distance regularly. Please, for the millionth time, tell me where he places in the all-time 1500m list. THAT is a more honest accomplishment so let's congratulate him on that.
