Steve Magness

He was running 4:10 to 4:12 in march/april of last year as well if I recall correctly. He got down to 4:01, despite the high mileage.

This season he is running even higher mileage (compare the logs), and he is running similar times. To me that means he is probably in better shape, despite the similar times (and the fact that he ran 4:03 inside). He is running similar times while pounding higher mileage. Back off until may.

Sure, I'd like to see him run fast in march and even faster in may, but this has worked for him in the past....so chill the f*** out.

If you want to defend a bunch of pampered millionaires who get paid for playing games that kids do for free you are on the wrong site. These millionaire athletes deserve the criticism. Should Allen Iverson be able to have 3 Bentleys when he should be in the county lock up? No way. You guys who defend the bigtime athletes don't understand the concept of message boards. It is a place for has beens to promote their own sense of self worth by criticizing others. It is the American Way. The typical american lives a life of quiet desperation and acts out a passive-aggressive existence at work. Message Boards provide a kind of anonymous way to blow off steam and act out the anger that they want to get out of their systems. The anonymity that the boards provide are a stress reducer for the typical middle aged middle income white male who post on them. They are able to say things that they would never say in a typical environment.

He should be allowed to post his training log if he f***ing feels like it. No one is forcing you to read it, and nowhere does he claim that it is the perfect training schedule. It's showing what he did.

Was malmo's training perfect? No. And yet no one gets on him about posting his training log. Was anyone's training "perfect"???? No. And yet tons of elite athletes have their training logs online. Why not crucify them for being "arrogant" as well.

Personally I like the guy as a person....I've only talked to him two or three times, but he has been nothing but helpful to me. I can understand not liking him as a person, but get off his back when it comes to his running. Yes, 3:53 is horrible for him, but we'll see what happens when it counts.

maybe you "magness haters are dumbf***s" are the actual dumbf***. it seems to me that the people who worship him so much are the 4:30 guys. they are the one's who idolize the guy and get all offended if someone says what the hell happened to him, he only ran 3:54. the guys who are actually good runners are the one's who want to know what the big deal is with this dude. he didn't qualify for cross nat's after everyone kept saying "wait 'til, wait 'til" well we waited and nothing happened, he wasn't even there. now people want to talk about his "4:03" that was actually probably at least a 4:08 (see my earlier post on page 2 if you want proof). some people are just sick of seeing all these people who idolize this guy and want to jump on people for saying, wow who would have guessed that magness would have run like shit again.

Let's hear it for Texas's next great miler Stev... I mean Erik Stanley. This kid will be next great thing because he focuses on things that are important like running opposed to posting his workouts on the net. Steve Magness, you have something like a cult. Your a talented runner, but you do seem cocky and arrogant. Everybody that has came into contact with you have agreed that you are a prick. And those guys that throng around you at every meet and that would take a shower with you if you would let them, you need to tell them to stop trying to defend you. It just makes the situation worse. It also makes Rice look like it has a crappy program because all your teammates do is talk about you. But then again besides you, Adam Davis, and Pablo Salares, there isn't a team. Good luck and don't worry about the trials, just focus on the biggest meet of your year, the Western Atheletic Championships, thats what your getting paid to do. And tell your groupies to f*** off.

Magness is a honor student. He does not have to be a one dimensional runner. If his running career goes south he can also get a good job in a law firm or something. He probably will tell you guys to f*** off.

Erik Stanley the next great miler steve magness all of a sudden sucks, it doesnt make much since to me at all personally i think all the bashers out there of the elite runners and what have you should all take a long look in the mirror and then shoot themselves in the head.
