A week to go to the A10 Meet. Any thoughts/predictions???
Richmond looks pretty tough, but it's going to be a fight and i don't think there's a clear cut winner. guess the title will be decided by who shows up on saturday.
richmond is the clear cut favorite, but the rest of the a-10 is virtually equal. so i'd have to agree with g6 in regards to the fact that any team has a legitimate shot if they have 1-2 guys up there and a tight 3-5 following in close behind. its goin to be a showdown in the steel city saturday anything can happen
Richmond
Dayton
LaSalle
UMASS
Xavier
St Joe's
RUN FAST ALL!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to Richmond's men's and women's teams for their victories yesterday.
More congratulations to Steve Taylor, however, for building that program with no scholarship money from nothing 9 years ago to having a national qualifier/all american in Matt Llano, an incredible talent in A-10 Champ Andrew Benford, and all the others who made it happen yesterday. Steve has done a tremendous job with that program, and I applaud both him and the boys for the job yesterday.
Also, great job to everyone else for making it a great meet!

I think since it is private they can get a lot of scholarships other ways. They may have been "free" if you look at the Cross Country money, but I am sure they got them a lot of scholarships and grants because they were good athletes that they would not have otherwise gotten.
Thats not true. Richmond is a highly competitive school and academic scholarships are the other option and you can only get them if you are an exceptional student. These guys pay their own way.

It's like Penn, Princeton, Columbia and Harvard saying they don't give athletic scholarships. No one believes that anymore. Georgetown is in the same boat they have like 30 guys on scholarship at least. How Richmond gets runners, I don't know though.
Richmond Men XC & T&F have no scholarships, zero, zip! xcking is correct. Highly competitive school & very difficult to get academic scholarships. Any grants they receive are based on financial need, not because of their athletic abilities. They definitely pay their own way!
Soooo, Who's Q'ing to the NCAA meet?? Thoughts?

I'm rich, Bitch!
Rich people don't need scholarships I guess.
Actually, the University of Richmond meets 100% of students financial needs bc of the large endowment the school has. Acceptance to the school is need-blind. They get good runners bc of the groundwork laid by the alumni and the great coaching they have from the Taylor's.
