8.8 on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail.
RIP, Ryan
have not ran in months but i stumbled 5miles for shay.
i'd like to dedicate today's 16 to both Ryan and Alicia. I can't even imagine what this must be like for her.
9 miles. My longest run since being sidelined with knee problems 4 yrs ago.
Only 4, Only @ 7:50 pace. Still felt great, thank-you Ryan for helping me focus on what's important.
3x today. 1) 45 min easy. 2) 60 min with 30 at tempo effort. 3) 30 min easy.
My last cross country race of the season was today, at the MSTCA invitational. Started this season, my first XC season, running 23:58, today I was hoping to break 23 mins, but I ran a PR of 23:01...
But Ryan you gave me strength thinking of how you wouldn't give up at the tickle of pain and that really inspired me today. Thank you.
RIP
12 miles on the Chicago Lakefront today...could have used a quick stop in there, but powered through. I made sure give it an extra surge right around the 5.5 mile point, too.
Ran 4 miles in LA
Got my roomoate to come run for the 1st time, and he ran 2
RIP Ryan
First run in a couple months
30 minutes
R.I.P. Ryan Shay
Was gonna take today off, but couldn't stop thinking about Shay and his family all weekend -- the guy's my exact age, and it could have been me...
So, 8 miles through the hilly vineyards at sunset, under a rosy-fingered dusky sky, at half-marathon pace. Shay, when it's my time, I'll be stoked to meet you, man.
Ran my first race in a long time. Gave it all I had in a 5K - had forgotten what the suffering in the last few minutes of a 5K is like. But in retrospect, I was happy to be able to embrace the pain today - good to be alive.
Ryan was a great competitor. I was lucky to have lined up against him many times in many different places - NY, Boston and even Mombasa, Kenya.
20 miles at Boulder Res today with a 6 mile pick up. Was fading in the 5th but ran the last mile the fastest for Ryan.
4miles HOLLA
5.5 miles for the distance that Ryan got to run in the Trials.
I've just barely been paying lip service to my running since college ended. I just run to make sure my legs still work now--it's pretty pathetic. Tonight I ran 20 minutes on the city streets, which was actually my longest in a while. Not trying to be sappy or anything, but it seemed like I was getting a little of the feeling back for a minute. I had to scare off a charging dog by yelling at it--didn't know I could do that. Anyway, Shay was always one of my unacknowledged inspirations because I knew he was a guy with a bigger build, like myself, and he didn't let that hold him back. I always thought he did it with style. RIP Ryan, and Alicia--I hope for your healing and continued good health.
I dragged this 42 year old "has been" body out for two whopping miles, swearing to quit the junk food and start taking care of myself again. Ryan Shay's life was cut short and it's tragic that it takes the untimely passing of someone so young to realize that there is no excuse for killing myself slowly.
Every run i do from now on will be inspired by Mr. Ryan Shay. My condolences to his family and friends.
I substituted a bike ride for a run because that's my main source of exercise these days...went 32.5 miles on a pleasant, cool day. Saw plenty of sandhill cranes over a rolling route.
In mid-July each summer is the RAT ride- Ride Around Torch (Lake). The 100 mile & 100 km routes take riders very near Central Lake. There is no shortage of hills between Torch Lake and points east toward & beyond CL. I've taken both routes and have wondered about Ryan & his brothers covering the same roads. There are some very long climbs, great vistas at the top of many hills. I envied them their beautiful lakes, geography and lightly traveled roads.
