Jess McClain runs well in hotter temps. She is in the middle of Boston training so probably not tapered or specific, but she’s as consistent as it gets. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wins.
Houlihan isn't breaking 30 tonight. 30:30 to 31:00 at best.
Anyone who watched Houlihan's interview yesterday would know that even Houlihan doesn't really believe she will break 30 minutes. It's just something she feels like trying.
She was more like "I'm going to start off at 30:00 pace and see what happens" as opposed to her really thinking she could break 30 minutes.
I think Jess McClain will win it in 30.10. She is suddenly ripped and fast. She's 34 and is swole af! She looks like Shelby did before she got popped. I know Roche coaches her and lord knows what brew he has cooked up for her but her sudden rise to the top at her age is interesting. I hope it's all natural.
Gun goes off at 8:55 pm PDT for women's elite race.
One factor against a super fast time is the weather.
SoCal is still feeling lingering effects from the recent heat wave which hit the west.
Temps at start of race forecasted to be 66 deg F. Almost 10 deg warmer than The TEN's featured 10,000 races in years past. Partly due to moving the race from the beginning of March to the end.
Cheptegei’s 10000m WR was set in 77 degree weather. 66 degrees is cooler than just about any DL meet.
I know. It's ridiculous for anyone to think that 66° at night is adverse. Seems perfect to me. Heaven. Do those people actually run?
Is there a live thread for the Sound Running/The Ten meet tonight, or is this one the closest we have? I know that with no championship standards to chase, the fields and hype aren't as big as in some years, but I thought there would be at least a little night-of chatter.

I agree. I came here at least expecting a thread on the race and am disappointed there is nothing. Standards to chase or not, we’ve still got ourselves a potential AR 10K tingiht and to not even have a thread is wild. Are you a running website or what??
According to the results, a 13 year-old just ran a 4:06.03 1600, lost to a 14 year-old by .01. Now they took the ages off the results. There was no way that could be right.

Here's a project I did a few years back. I plotted all of the top 50 lists for 1500, 3000sc, 5000m, 10000m by event. Then plotted Nth best cumulative graphs. The results were pretty much predictable. You'll note that to get those averages there are a lot of individual dots that are above and below those averages.
