I'm not convinced that Iowa State should even be allowed to compete in this race. How can there be a looming team doping scandal with no team repercussions? Even if none of the athletes competing are implicated, what message does it send that it's allowed to have doping on a team so long as its B or C team athletes.
Big 10 men The #10 Wisconsin men’s 7-year win streak was snapped as #10 Oregon got out hard and cruised to victory with 36 points. The Ducks Irish transfer Abdel Laadjel from Providence took the individual title in 23:11.6. #13 Michigan State ended up second with 90 as #15 Wisconsin was third with 90.
It was the Ducks first Big 10 xc win and their first conference xc winn since 2008 which is hard to believe (On the Big 10 network, they incorrectly said it the Ducks first conference title since since 2015).
“It’s very exciting. We’ve been building for this for a long time now, slowly chipping away at moving up inn the conference and today was a culmination of a lot of world and determination,” said Schumacher.
Princeton's Anna McNatt won the individual title at the Ivy League/Heps XC Championship, while Princeton had all their scorers finish in the top 11 (1-2-5-8-11-(15)-(20)) to dominate over the field.
Yes I ran in the ncaa when Ted Banks had an impressive crew at UTEP. A lifelong friend and coach and AD at a California school was a close friend of Ted Banks, and this AD friend told me that recruiting high quality US guys was not possible at UTEP. So UTEP making the best of their options. But to the points made above, one didn’t see as many teams as we see today in the SEC.
From a human perspective, it isn’t easy for the Kenyan athletes to come over here and adjust academically and socially. By and large they appear to adjust so kudos to them. Doris Lemngole by all appearances appears to be a success and a kind gem as a person. Impressive to observe. But there is very little focus on athlete development.
By way of anecdote, a young woman from our local high school just ran very well in the ACC race. To see her develop and improve provides a connection to the sport. At the coffee shop this morning a number of us were wishing her well. This group at the shop are not hard core fans but all were interested in this athlete.
Hartman pushed too soon. NC state still won by an incredible landslide (28 to 89) but probably could have even been a little more. Should have sat for a little more
That’s almost unheard of from Hartman. She does have three weeks to get her acts back together though.
She did it before at the ACC indoor mile, she’s incredible but has to be careful at nationals not to overcook it too early
