Just a word of caution about UC Davis: they don't have a full time XC coach right now. Emma Petersen left, and Shadrack Biwott was canned due to doping allegations. Currently they have Kirk Elias as their interim XC coach.
Kirk Elias brings more than 50??years of experience as he takes the interim head coach job at UC Davis during the 2025 season. He comes to Davis after over 20??seasons

GTowne is the nicest human you will ever meet. You can agree or disagree with his politics, but he is a great dude and a great coach. There is a reason why that program has such a loyal following of alumni and supports and the reason is GT.
1. Integrity would. Most higher level runners in High School are honest, intrinsically motivated and hardworking kids.
2. High school coaches provide training plans for recruits to colleges if asked almost every time.
That’s my point. The lazy kid gets the spot on the team over the intrinsically, motivated and hardworking kid. That’s effed. It’s also unlikely the kid with no passion for the sport will suddenly become dedicated in college.
When the word get’s out that dedicated kids are getting screwed, it makes sense to lie.

This^. The thread was about programs that have success developing athletes, not whether you agree with the coach's political views.
Besides, I thought if you were woke, you were against things like merrit and excellence. How is it that somone possessing unparelleled woke ideology has produced so many great teams?
We're looking to compile a list of schools/coaches that actually develop hs runners. So not the schools that took STUDS and then they run well...schools that took mid-pack, good runners and developed them.
