The threshold is when trans women become over- represented in women's competitions.
So when we're looking at over 0.5% that's when it's a "problem" that needs addressing .
Do the math and you'll see we are way below that currently.
People are downvoting this post, but this is exactly what the US federal court decided a few decades ago. A group of boys in Arizona sued the state high school sports federation for their rights to play on girls' volleyball teams. (There was no boys volleyball in Arizona back then.) The court ruled that they should not be allowed because it would result in "substantial replacement" of girls.
Except sometimes it's not like that. Imagine feeling like the opposite gender since you were a little kid. Wanting to wear their clothes. Their haircuts. Play the way they do. All of it. It does happen, occasionally.
You want to know why? Because they have hurt my livelihood. I haven't talked about this mucjh on here. But ever since I published the following column with Olympian Mara Yamauchi, I was dropped as an Ivy League broadcaster.
So it was about your personal grudge, financial loss and retribution? Well, you sound a lot like your cis hetero Orange Hero.
Let me ask you this. How does it help your "cause" to incite hate toward trans people? I know you are recovering part of your financial loss by driving page view counts with your inflammatory posts. But if it is not all about money, how else is it helpful for the "cause" you believe in?
Who benefits from all the insults, dehumanization and demonization of trans people that your thread attracts from mostly unregistered posters? Do cis girls who lose in track races feel better because the runner who beat them is treated like a deranged criminal on a running message board?
The column you linked has nothing to do with trans women competing in women's sports. It was about prize money in nonbinary category. So if you got "cancelled" by Ivy League for publishing that column, what does that have to do with your crusade against trans people? Isn't it a good thing that a separate nonbinary category exist so that "biological males" are kept out of women's division? Would you still object to that even if there is no prize money in the nonbinary division?
NCAA categorically banned trans women in the women's division. More than half of US states had already done the same. There are very, very few trans women who are eligible under the World Athletics or the USATF policies, and most of them are not competitive. One high school student who is 3rd in a small state does not threaten women's sports.

Treatment is available.
The treatment is called Gender Affirming Care, which the GOP is trying to ban.

Not only that, but you can like different things without demanding others to say you've transformed to that sex. If you're a man that likes feminine clothes, haircuts, toys, etc. That's fine. But you're still just a dude that likes different things than most other men. You're not a women. Like what you like, you do you. But it doesnt change your sex. I don't understand why we can't just chalk it up to a fruity man who likes girly things versus trying to convince everyone of the ridiculous concept that they are really a wome when most sane people know it's just not possible

A man who like girly things is a still a man. He is not a trans woman.

Oh, yeah.
One of my favorite novels has a supporting character who likes to dress in women's clothes when he gets home from work. He is an interesting guy who perfectly complements the main protagonist. But, he never pretends to be anything but a man.

That book probably couldn't be published today.
It has a line saying AIDS is a disease that straight people can't get.

So he is not a trans woman. What is your point?
No such thing as a trans woman.
That is a biological male who needs help coming to terms with reality.
The person in question sounds unusual in personality, not just unusual in gender. Let's not conflate the two.
In the public statements he's made, Sadie Schreiner sounds and comes across exactly like other two extremely prominent American male athletes that Schreiner has named as his heroes and role models, and whose footsteps he said he was following when he started horning in on and winning big in women's college sports - CeCe Telfer and Lia Thomas.
All three of these blokes adopted a trans gender identity when they were grown men in college and then decided to use their new, supposedly special gender identity status as an excuse and free pass to muscle in on women's sports; trounce female athletes in their own category of competition; publicly gloat and crow about their victories over female athletes; whinge that they and other men like them are the athletes who are really at a disadvantage in women's sports; and kvetch that everyone who thinks it's unfair and morally reprehensible for full-grown men to behave in this outrageously entitled, misogynistic and bullying way is a transphobe, hater, bigot, etc.
These men all have obvious, deep-seated personality problems and character flaws. Whether or not they meet the diagnostic criteria for full-blown narcissistic personality disorder or some other Cluster B disorder is not for me to say. But I am willing to say that from what I have seen and heard from them, they all have openly and proudly displayed behaviors and attitudes that IMO are extremely selfish, highly narcissistic, exhibitionistic, anti-social, toxic and indicative of male paraphilias and massive amounts of male entitlement.
There are plenty of men who've adopted a trans gender identity who don't horn in on female sports and spaces like Schreiner, Telfer and Thomas; don't throw their weight around like they do; and aren't out to stick it to girls and women and lord it over us like they are. But that fact does not lessen or counteract the harm men like Schreiner, Telfer and Thomas have caused and will continue to cause if the rest of society continues to play along with their fantasies, mollycoddle them, make excuses for them, and treat them and other men like them as some kind of sacred caste who supposedly deserve special entitlements and new kinds of "male privilege" that no one else of their sex gets.

Their problems belong to those three individuals. And not to trans women in general, or even trans women who compete in women's sports.
Harriette MacKenzie is loved and supported by her VIU teammates so much that they were willing to forfeit games to protect her.
And how about this from a high school softball player?
“Despite all the hate and outside noise, our team had endured—we stuck together and continued to play as not just team mates, but as family. Our team’s accomplishment is truly a reflection on everyone’s combined efforts and relentless training.”
This softball team just wanted to win so they cheated by having a male pitch every inning during the state tournament. This male also pitches for a club team, which had other female pitchers quit the team because they got no playing time.
Gender affirming care involves bodily mutilation and lifelong dependence on hormone injections and drugs, which raise the risk of cancer and other illnesses, and sterilization. It is not affirming, it is barbaric and should be outlawed for minors. If some sickos want to do this to themselves when they become adults, it's up to them. But it shouldn't be covered by insurance or paid for by any government agency.
Affirming care is also used for people with Alzheimer’s. However, there is no expectation that the extended community pretend it’s still 1954 and the ball gown needs picking up from tailoring.
Go take a look at this kid. He’s obviously mentally disturbed and wants to indulge in his fantasy of wearing a bikini bottom while running so that the crowd is forced to see his junk bouncing around.
