We were all just supposed to pretend like a 2:09 marathoner barely breaking 32 minutes for 10k was normal. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
I think, if its not already pretty obvious, this should tell everyone that ALL Kenyans are doping, Kipchoge, Kipyegon, Chebet, Kiptum all of them.
When you're faced with taking a small drug thats readily available to be able to run times that earn you tens of thousands or working 10 hours a day on rice farms for 3 dollars you'd actually be stupid not to.
Every Kenyan deserves an unofficial asterisk.
Financial motivation is poweful, but plenty cheat for glory.
Chepngetich was on the top of the likely list before this because 2:09 was such an outlier time for her and history. Kipchoge or Jakob may be doping, but what they've done or are doing fits with what they've always done. With slow incremental improvements mostly in line with super shoes and evidence of crazy talent in their teens. Kipyegon is the same. Hassan, well maybe not so much I'm afraid.
Dropping your time by 5 min at age 30? It was just a matter of time until it all fell apart it seems.
Popped for a masking agent and provisionally suspended.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has provisionally suspended marathon world record-holder, Ruth Chepng'etich, for the Presence and Use of Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) relating to a sample collected from her on 14 March this year. A Notice of Charge has been issued against Chepng'etich regarding the detection of the Prohibited Substance – a diuretic – following an investigation into the Kenyan athlete’s positive test which was reported to the AIU on 3 April this year, at an estimated concentration of 3800 ng/mL in urine.
Will the members of the Kenyan Parliament apologize to yours truly?
And I didn't even say she was on drugs. All I did was ask her what would she say to the people who thinks she's on drugs?
I love how the report said that the threshold for HCTZ was 20 ng/mL at the bottom and then they said hers was 3800. That's like 200 times the amount. You have to wonder what she was hiding.
Incorrect. We asked the white as snow Galen Rupp and his coach Alberto Salazar a ton of questions. Hell when I started coaching at Cornell in 2002, an incoming freshman who had worked with Salazar in Oregon told me, "Salazar hates you." I didn't even know he knew me. Why did he not like us? Because on the forum people were talking about drugs at Athletic West and whether Salazar was involved.
I once had a private meeting at Nike with Salazar where he denied allegations that I didnt even know existed but I guess had been posted on here.
Wasn't malmo with Athletics West before he fired them?
Well, at least you got the facts right this time.
My association with AW has nothing to do with Alberto's association. There was a four year separation. I was there the first year.

I’d also extend this logic to Tigst Assefa who, while not Kenyan obviously, still went from 2:34 in her first marathon to 2:15 in her second, splitting faster than her HM best in the second half of that race.
I think this is a valid take. I wonder if another measure is to simply make agents pay heavily. Imagine if Rosa now paid a massive fine that financially ramped up targeted testing of his best athletes. Think he might take closer order of his athletes then?
That's the best idea I've heard. And make it progressive.
Warning, 6k, 25k, 100k, 400k, 1 million. But it would be really hard to implement.
And the record will still stand for all of eternity.
I haven’t read the whole thread to see if this has been said, but please, please World Athletics, nullify this record. It’s far too obvious now that the mark was drug aided.

How about we just imagine that these scumbag agents that have abused desperate east african athletes in particular for the last 25-30 years (Rosa, Demadonna, Corstjens, Mostaza, et al) just had their licenses revoked? Throw in a few coaches like that crook Canova that everybody thought was awesome for like 5 years because he posted the training plans of his doped Kenyans and tried to convince us that because they were born at altitude EPO was useless to them. Why don't we start there.
