it's really just discussion how unusually tall she is, a variable which she can't change. If a 6'6 male runner came and broke all the high school records, his height and weight would probably come into discussion in many more threads and posts. In the case of Hedengren I think it's fair to discuss her stature because she is such an outlier in both height and ability. If you were to ask me I'd say her success is independent of her height. There's plenty of tall women who would be lucky to break a 10 minute mile.
The reason why my post isn't "creepy" or "perverse" or "banned" is because the context of my post is based on athletic performance and professional observation (yes, professional). Never once did it enter my mind about Jane being in high school or how her body looked. If you actually read and understood what was written, it had nothing to do with body shaming at all. In fact, it seems pretty clear that my reference was in regard to her being 18 yrs old, 6ft tall, and still growing. Along with growth comes more height, more muscle mass, and MORE WEIGHT, which in turn could increase the risk of injury. I'm sorry, I don't see any reference to Jane being FAT or HEAVY or OVER WEIGHT.
Get off your woke sexist agenda!!! Not everyone views the world in a negative divisive way you do. Try understanding the message and maybe you'll learn something.
But it’s already been established that she’s 5’9”, yet you continue to spread the lie.
OMG!!!
What lie? Here, let me help you. READ the below definition:
"To lie is to make a false statement with the intention to deceive".
No ill will here, or INTENT to deceive. She's 5'9 and "taller' than most female high school distance runners. My point still stands true. Read it again and maybe you'll educate yourself.
A bunch of media outlets list her at 6'0". Her father said she is 5"9" because he is an absent minded professor. We have 3 children who my wife has no idea how tall any of them are.
Her dad is the furthest thing from an absent-minded professor. He has a brain like a computer and knows every stat, meet, number, rep, pace, split, etc, for an array of runners, not just Jane. So I can guarantee you he knows her exact height.
I’ve known Jane and her family since she was in 6th grade, my daughter has grown up running with her, and I’ve commented several times on these Jane-speculation height threads that she’s absolutely not 6 feet tall, and at the very max is around 5’10”. I saw her last at the Utah state championships last month and chatted with her briefly. I’m tall for a female as well, so am able to easily estimate heights for taller girls/women, and I can tell you all - you should definitely believe her dad over the media outlets when it comes to anything involving Jane.
There is no reason to exaggerate height or weight for cross country. It is common in football or basketball to add a little to try to intimidate opponents, but height plays no part in running success. Very short runners and very tall runners have won championships.
You incorrectly assume that they take the time to accurately measure each runner precisely.
I have recently stood next to Jane. I'm 6 feet. She is shorter than me by 1.5 to 2 inches.
The only way for Jane to be considered 6 feet tall is if she was wearing the world's thickest super shoes. But an accurate height measurement requires the removal of shoes.
