I'm sure this is probably one of the YouTube losers who went home crying under a burner.
John is an inspiration and still going. Widely respected. Not a bad way to say about him. Same for LRC very own sirpoc running 2:24 on debut in the same age category, whilst these guys should be in their primes with unlimited time to train.
These pansys like felton, bester getting rinsed by these older guys who are wildly respected and cherished, whilst any serious rubber just thinks these guys are massive a-holes. It burns, because all they want is the running community to accept the.
I'm certain Mary M was fit enough to PB on Sunday. As far as I can tell she put the work in. She did run 1:20:04(I think?) at Paris HM in the middle of her block. That alongside what I saw from the MP long runs in her training suggested to me that getting sub-2:50 on a good day wasn't out of the question. She was clearly in shape to much improve her 3:03 PB at the very least.
All that being said, she clearly went out way too hot. In her over the top debrief video she said she missed her goal by 15 mins. That suggests she wanted 2:55 (although I think she was definitely targeting something quicker).
She ran the first 5k in 18:57 which is sub-2:40 pace and 20 seconds per km quicker than her "goal" pace. It's even 15 seconds per km quicker than the stretch goal of 2:50. Completely unsustainable.
It's absolutely no wonder she blew up, but I have no doubt she'll take a massive chunk off her PB if she keeps doing what she's doing and races more sensibly next time.
John Gilbert has been around for years, a real person with a real life and a bloody good runner. I think what his performance does tell you and I'm sure he'd agree... Is that he is not the runner he was in 2015 but the shoes allow him to run comparable times. What was he running in back then? A DS racer or similar... It's probably worth 3-4 minutes. We need an asterix for before and after super shoes. Guys like Cole Gibbons, 2.16, yip fair play, good run... But it's a 2.20 in 2016. As for Besta... Christ
Expect an update on Josh Lewis this week. Hopefully a statement to all influencers going forward. Also how funny that Mary and Jonny D both don’t have 9-5 and have tons of endorsements and tools are their disposal but both can’t break 3 hours in the mara. Too good
Gilbert run a 65:21 and a 2:16 and he's a doper Gibbens runs a 65:00 and negative splits a debut 2:16 but no doping mention? Make your mind up.
The other thing people haven't mentioned is John's prowess over XC. He's had ups and downs between balancing his career, kids and training, but he was also ruthless at XC, another reason this shouldn't be a surprise.
John Gilbert is as tough as nails and no surprise hes still performing at this level. I remember his battles with Paskar Owar (2 time Olympian) in the Surrey XC league. His previous PB was pre-supershoes so this time seems about right. The harder the conditions the more this man excels against others.
A previous post suggests he has deleted any comments mentioning it. He also seems to be private on Strava, which is strange for a runfluencer. I'm not sure if this has always been the case or is just now post London?
Yep I've commented twice alluding to it. Both deleted. Two friends did the same and also deleted. One of them blocked.
His sträva is weird because it was public just after London, then went private later in the day, then public again in the days after. The guy knows the game is up and he's cooked. I'm sure as hell looking forward to how he worms his way out of it.
Wonder how his associates (Trees, Briggs etc.) play it too. Or pretend it never happened

I've reported it directly to "On"
Lets hope they make a big song and dance about it!
Just pray London do the right thing here and set an example to future influencers or participants. Intrigued if ON do anything, wouldn’t be suprised if they didn’t. Tommy Trees definitely knew what was going on.
Ooh interesting, wonder if they'll do anything or just ignore you. Hopefully LME forward onto UKA too because ultimately someone was fraudulently entering a British Championships (and his friend facilitating it).
Getting himself into the championship area was the ultimate p*ss take. Not so bad if it was the mass area, though still terrible behaviour. Are we able to contact UKA?
