They will probably be harder on him for trying to sending it with a courier service. That suggests he knew it was illegal and didn't want to bring it across personally.
If it's legal in Japan anyway, then just wait until you're in Japan and then go buy some. Don't be stupid
Yes he is a complete idiot and delusional, but use your brains people, he's not going to spend a decade in prison for this. I'd put the over/under at 90 days including his current detention time spent. But he won't be allowed back in Japan for the rest of his life.
I didn't say "definitely." Look, they have a 99% conviction rate, they don't bring charges unless they know the case is air-tight. Fox has nobody else he can inform on or testify against to hope for a plea deal for a light sentence. You think he has character witnesses up his sleeve who will pop up in court in Japan? Don't believe everything that you think.
A big reason for Japan's 99% conviction rate is they will continually beat you to a pulp (let you recover for a couple of days then have at it again), starve you and torture you until you sign a confession.
All research on successful drug policy shows that treatment should be increased, and law enforcement decreased, while abolishing mandatory minimum sentencing.
explain why countries with extreme drug policy (middle east and asia) have far fewer drug problems?
First of all, it’s a lyric from a SOAD song.
Second, all those countries do have major organized crime (including the American intelligence/military)producing and distributing drugs - they don’t have the massive pharmaceutical industry investment and overprescription combined with the alienation of the working class in the imperial core.
It’s all over the news right now all you have to do is google Matt Fox and Japan. As much as this guy has harmed people I kinda feel sorry for the guy. He’s so f$cked it’s not even funny. He went from making money and traveling the world to confined in a cell. What’s wild is we are watching karma kick someone’s ass for all the harm he’s caused.

Hard to feel sorry for someone who did something blatantly illegal.
I'll say this for the guy, though. At least he wasn't smuggling kangaroos or other such marsupials. They are the metabolically superior mammal, and will drive us to extinction if they are allowed out of Australia.
As much as Matt Fox is clearly a crap person and deserves this, the Japan Running News guy gives me the creeps even more. The man has a weird obsession with Fox and loves gatekeeping Japan running whilst pretending to promote it. Wouldnt be the first time he snitched on Fox haha
Up to 7 yrs. Japan and Asia in general has some strict cannabis laws.
The US should have drug laws like this. Would end the fentanyl crisis in a year. Our tolerance for drugs is a weakness and results in high overdose rates and crime.
So disturbed at how many people support Totalitarian drug laws. A crime occurs when one damages another's person or property. Personally ingesting a chemical on your own private property is not a crime. Doing it in public may be, especially if bothering others.
Let's be serious here, Japan is not a free country and never has been. Those who ran the country pre and during WWII continued to run the country, witht the exception of some military generals (who fjust followed orders) and the presence of US military personel to ensure a smooth transition to a strategic US ally against Russia. Totally swept Japan's rape and pilaging of most of Asia under the table and left he Zaibatsu intact (Japan's version of Oligarchy).
Do you seriously think criminalising drugs will stop addicts? You are beyond stupid.
You seriously don't think limiting the availability of drugs helps? Availability, whether it be of alcohol, food, porn, or anything else addicting, certainly contributes to the problem.
