Tariffs are the opposite of capitalism. They need to go away. If someone else has something at a good price that you want, get it from them. If not, get it yourself or somewhere else. No need for tariffs unless you get too reliant on someone else for something. You could argue we're there, sort of, but not for important things.
You missed the part where these are RECIPROCAL tariffs only done against countries that have tariffs on us.
Reciprocal is one part of equation. There is a base 10 percent. After this trade war with the world, Russia will be the only friend we’ve got. If there is a war between Russia and USA against the rest of world, who would win?
US manufacturing production is at an all time high (due to automation). No company is going to want to start paying people to put things together in the US. a good living wage when machines can do it. The manual manufacturing jobs are better and more cheaply done over seas
Biden added $8T of his own and he didn't have COVID relief as an excuse.
60 cents of every single dollar rhe government spends also goes to Democrat entitlements so $22T of that debt is 100% on the Democrats no matter who's in office when it's spent.
Democratic entitlements? You mean the ones going to support Red States with Blue States’ tax dollars? More than half of the biggest welfare states voted for Trump. None of the states that contributed more than they received from the federal government did.
You mean those states that are still recovering from being blue for 150 years?
The poorest counties in the south are still deep blue.

As a percentage of GDP manufacturing production has been falling for decades and is lower now than pretty much ever.
But it was like the one thing he said he would do. Fix the economy. Just use tariffs rather than things that work.
The economy isn't getting fixed in a few weeks or months.
Trump is aiming for a turn around by the midterms.
Tariffs do work. The people squealing about tariffs would tell you whatever the orange did was wrong no matter what he did.
Well we have proof tariffs don't work unless we add other policies on top which I will note we are not doing. Do you remember the last time we put blanket tariffs well the economy was struggling? I will tell you since you failed history class: the great depression. The policies we would need to implement would be giving incentives for companies to work here(like what China does). But unfortunately the deficit is too big to spend money on corporations that don't need it. So we are not stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Hey Eddy can you tell us how these are reciprocal and how these figures were determined?
They are reciprocal in that they are being levied on countries that already have existing tariffs on US goods.
The media would have you believe 100% of these tariffs are being levied on countries with no existing tariffs. That is false.
You mean like uninhabited islands? They are not reciprocal and I would like to congratulate you on Trumps newest policy causing you to learn a new word. Even if you don't seem to know what it means.
I know what the LFPR includes. How does it distinguish between someone working and someone actively looking for work? Here's a hint, it doesn't.
Good lord... I know it doesn't that's why it's a more useful indicator of the health of your labor force then unemployment which completely ignores everyone who isn't looking for work.
What the f*ck does "health of your labor force" even mean?
The LFPR dropped 5 points between 2000 and 2015. Did the labor force become unhealthy in that time?

Of the 10 poorest counties in the country (based on median household income), 5 lean republican, 4 lean democrat, and 1 is mixed. 7 of those counties are in states that lean republican, and 3 are in states that are mixed.
Nasdaq is still up 130+ percent in the last 5 five years. Greedy boomers think they’re entitled to 25 percent a year every year. Eff off and die. You won’t be missed

As it should be, in a post industrial economy.
Remember in the past, tariffs permanently damaged certain industries and sectors, as Nations looked outside the US and developed permanent trade relations and never came back to the US.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but even outside of the tariffs, the US economy has real warning signs

A pull back, for any reason, was ripe to happen
An economy that still needs industrial goods is not a post industrial economy.

You are damn right, we got entitled to a reasonable government that would work towards growing the economy. It is about time to get reminded that electing a moron has consequences.
