For the 265th time Armstronglivs has mentioned that Ingebrigtsen hasn't won a global 1500m title in the last 3 years.
Coe has NEVER won a global 800m title.
Ovett has NEVER won a global 1500m title.
All 3 are great athletes. Ingebrigtsen has already passed Ovett. With a WR in the 1500m and/ or the 5000m he will also pass Coe.
Coe was a double Olympic victor over the 1500; Ingebrigtsen once and a no placing. Coe broke the wr for the 1500/mile several times; Ingebrigtsen never has. We are talking 1500 not other distances but if you're including the 800 - why? - Coe was 1:41.73 as against Ingebrigtsen's 1:46.4.
He put no significant distance between himself and the minor place-getters over the last lap. These were 'B' level runners by comparison with Hocker, Kerr and Nuguse - any of whom would likely have stayed with Ingebrigtsen and then outkicked him.
He wanted to win. He won. Only a moron like you, grasping at straws, is now going to judge his performance by the gap to second.
The discussion wasn't about that he won in a lower level championship but his finish. I pointed out that he didn't put much between himself and the second-tier runners he was up against. It was no indication of whether he would be able to similarly beat the best in the world.

Why should he exert himself? You don't understand the concept of "saving energy".

As I said, I rate both Elliott and Snell above Ingebrigtsen over his main distance.
You are only hoping that Ingebrigtsen will get the 1500/mile wrs and the 5k. He may - but he may also keep getting beaten in global finals by runners with a better finish.
We are not talking 1500m.
I'm not hoping he will get the 1500m/Mile and/or 5000m WRs.
At age 24 Ingebrigtsen has more seasons where he was the no. 1 at 1500m than Coe has had during his career. Let's see how many more will come. He is much stronger at the moment than he was last year at the same time.
If you're not talking 1500 there is no reason to refer to Coe and Ovett and the great milers in comparison with Ingebrigtsen.

4:58.84 - 4:43.13
7:54.32 - 7:17.55
14:06.2 - 12:48.45
Coe was an 800/1500 runner, not a 2k-5k runner. Why not introduce Bolt into the comparison? Just as relevant. But it wasn't me who decided to include Coe's 800 championship achievements in the comparison with Ingebrigtsen.
But all of this is 45 years apart. In forty years time you will be able to make the same stupid argument against Ingebrigtsen.

Oh, so he wasn't really trying? How do you know that? Since he was metres from the finish what was he "saving energy" for?
There is a really big asterisk against Coe's 1500 win at Moscow due to key competitors from boycotting countries being absent.
There is a small asterisk against his 1500 win at LA for the same reason.
No one qualifies Coe's victories. What sort of asterisk would you put against 4th, as well as 2nd in two prior WC finals? * "Not the winner"? Certainly not the champion.

For, enjoying the moment, celebrating. You never won anything so you wouldn't know.
So you're just guessing, as usual. I look forward to him "enjoying the moment" when the next guy passes him again.
I look forward to him "enjoying the moment" when he beats another world record or gets another global title. You will be posting hundreds of times about it, as usual.

The response was to your statement about Olympic victories.
Typical narcissist with his witless insults. Grow up.
You never post anything that isn't a witless insult.
You never post anything that isn’t witless.
Your bizarre attacks on Jakob come off as a desperate attempt at getting attention, getting people to engage with you since no one in the real world pays you any mind at all, except the nursing home aids who have to change your diaper and hose you down at shower time.
