I’m going to let you guys in on what I suspect is one of New Balance Boston’s little secrets. I think it could be a huge factor, if true.
They have a lab in Boston at The Track. In an Instagram post a while back, I saw them testing MacLean (I think it was before they went off to altitude) on a treadmill; she was wearing a VO2max mask.
If a group had that capability at their ready disposal, they could get quick feedback on an athlete’s response to training, recovery, nutrition, etc. I think it would be a huge game-changer for the groups that have that capability. What do you think?
You have said that undoes women can run 14:50. So if 15:40 women run 14:20, very few must be doping because all of the 15:00 munute women would run sub 14.
Seems like she was doping at age 18, then backed off thinking she would get tested. Went all in and ran 8:35 and then backed off again. Pretty obvious.
Don't know why you would think that. Her five best lifetime performances, seven of her top-8, and 10 of her top-13 were all done indoors. Almost the same as Andrews, with her top-5 and seven of her top-10 indoors. January 2026 would be a better bet.
Most of KTs best performances have been indoor, but plenty over the years have been outdoor including fairly recent 4:06/15:07.
Certainly not "plenty."
The top-13 performances of her life have all been run since May 14, 2022. Since that date, she has run 11 indoor races and 20 outdoor races. 10 of the 11 indoor races rank in her top-13 lifetime best races; only 3 of the 20 outdoor races are in the top-13. She has only scored 1150 points in an outdoor race once in her life (May 2022 - 1151 points).
1) Feb 2023 Indoor 2) Jan 2023 Indoor 3) Jan 2025 Indoor 4) March 2025 Indoor 5) Feb 2025 Indoor 6) May 2023 Outdoor 7) Dec 2022 Indoor 8) Feb 2023 Indoor 9) May 2022 Outdoor 10) July 2024 Outdoor 11) Dec 2021 Indoor 12) Feb 2025 Indoor 13) Feb 2025 Indoor
By contrast, Parker Valby's top-13 has 7 outdoor and 6 indoor. Addy Wiley has 14 outdoor in her top-15 performances (#9).
Tuohy peaks in the winter every year and it's downhill from there. So far, her best race out of five in 2025 was the first one. I highly doubt she'll match that 1181-point race outdoors since her best ever outdoors is only 1151.
High school 3000m record. U20 3000m record. Runner up in ncaa 3000 season before. Finally fully recovered from surgery. Yep, out of nowhere. Lol.
2020 9:32
2021 8:54
2022 8:59
2023 8:35
2025 8:47
One of those is not like the others.
This is silly analysis
She ran 4:25 mi and 1507 5K, so surely she could run an 8:37 currently and just had a bad race day or wasn't feeling good that day.
I mean she's basically close to where she was at her best you could even argue the mile was just as good since she front ran most of it...
Also the PED argument is dumb because she ran a 458 Mile as a seventh grader... And her improvement has been really consistent at all distances except for a few big ups and downs from injuries...
I mean if you look at her progression she went from 414 1500 in high school and then she progressed a little in college to like 4:11 and then progressed again to 406
And she stayed at that level except having to take time off from injury but she's probably back to being close to 406...
Anyway it's just really misleading if you focus on one distance and then take the anomalies at that one distance as some aha moment...
But if you look at the general trend of her mile 3K and 5K progression it is very consistent and very obviously not drug-related and pretty clear that she's just reached a plateau after peeking and dealing with some injuries
Main thing is she probably keeps having nagging stuff come up that prevents her from really progressing so it's more like probably a finding her best training method problem

Too much mental gymnastics went into that response. If anyone other than Tuohy ran the 8:35, astro would be on a drug cheat rant. That was my point, and his response was about what I expected.
And I don’t believe she could run an 8:37 currently. If that were the case, she wouldn’t have crashed in the last couple laps of a slow race. She was nearly maxed out.
Adding to that, Emily Mackay just beat Tuohy by 22 seconds in a 5K. A couple weeks back, Emily ran a 8:35. Are you trying to convince us that Tuohy would be within 2 seconds of Mackay in a 3K? C’mon now…
When she actually runs 8:37 or 8:38, I’ll believe she can do it.
When she actually runs 14:50, I’ll believe she can do it.
When she runs sub 31, I’ll believe she can do it.
People keep coming up with theories to support times she isn’t running, and other than the 8:35, has never come close to running. I’d like to see it, honestly. It would be good for the sport for her to be competitive.
Not 100% sure of the times but I believe Valby 14:52 indoors and only ran 8:41 her senior season. Lemngole has run 14:51/8:41 this season and Halladay-Lowery 14:57/8:40. A 15:07 runner is NOT running sub-8:40 let alone 8:35.
