2025 MIAC Track & Field Thread

I doubt Power cares about the rules of this meet. It seems unlikely anyone is qualifying for nationals at this meet, so he probably won’t even know who is entered in the sprint events.

University of North Dakota and Minnesota don't follow these "rules." I think the D1 flagship institutions know more about the rules and hosting than St. Olaf.

Also, those seedtimes for Cobbers and St. Scholastica at UND are spicy! Looking forward to seeing those guys jump up the MIAC list.

Also, the rules apply to performance list times not made up seed times. (Not meant to be comprehensive…)

The rule would apply if everyone had performance list times. Randomly guessed seed times don’t carry the same weight.

Now you're just making things up. That's not true at all.

If a time is submitted, made up or not, it is considered an official seed for the performance list.

I see Wartburg is using Power's seeding methods for their 400's, but not the 4 x 400s. They don't have the 600m.

Can a school not publish seed times like BU does and then just add the fastest together so everyone gets the best heat? If I'm St. John's, I say it's my meet and I'll do what I want.

It’s also pretty clear this rule doesn’t apply to small non championship meets. This is why most schools aren’t being overly officious and using them. They actually care about the athletes and what is best for the sport.

To the dad of the athlete at the Ole meet, did you ever email the commissioner or Ole AD? I’m very curious to hear how that went!

Every single MIAC meeting he drones on about what is best for the athletes- his main reason he wants to host XC at home- and now he is insistent on vague and verified rules. It’s all a bit much.

The MIAC commissioner hasn't replied. The Ole AD said she was unaware of new rules, but was confident her staff was well-informed of updated methods and would continue to follow all NCAA rules.

So nothing. Very disappointing that they would limit racing opportunities when it has been made very clear on this board that the new rules are only for championship races. If athletes are stuck in a bad heat and don't qualify for the MIAC or NCAA championship I would expect a lot of bad publicity for their stupidity.

Anyone else this the MIAC qualifying should start in January. Some guy running a mid 5K in December should have to prove he’s in that kind of shape for a Feb 28 race.

What a world it would be if that kid wins the MIAC mile. The top freshman steepler in the country is only building a bigger speed base to do things only someone with the name, The Future, can do.

Looks like Mo is signed up for the mile/3k at the U… not much comp in the 3k, but if a couple of the U guys push the pace ~4:10 might be within reach.

For fun, I’ll say they go out quick and Mo sneaks out a new Miac record in 4:07.18 (more realistically ~4:11).

Then he comes back in a solo 8:15 to creep closer to an NCAA qualifying time (think it’ll take closer to 8:13 to get in). Lots of predictions from your expert predictioner.
