You invalidated your entire post right there. 11th in the Olympics is not "world class?" So, please tell me, what is your definition of "world class?" Mu and Monson did not even make the team and St. Pierre only placed 8th (and 10th in 2021).
I thought I was clear on my definition.
World class, to me, is wether one can be in the hunt for a medal, when it counts at the end of the race, at majors. St. Pierre has proven that. Place number, often in women’s distance events, is a very poor metric because of the serious gaps in time.
I get it, you like Parker Valby, so do I and I hope she can become world class some day. For the moment she would and does get lapped. Think about that. for perspective, In a fast race such as often run at Diamond League, she would be lapped if she were to be invited to DL. That would not be a good look.
A question here is why you believe that you get to define who is and isn't world class anymore than anyone else does?
If you want to know the truth read Chapter 17 “The Spirit of Sport” of my new book The Alchemy of Running.
I tell a story about walking into the Olympic stadium for opening ceremonies in Athens, Greece and greet a runner on the Olympic infield who admits their doping to me. He went on to explain why he cheated and who he knew was doping. That was a long ass time ago in 2004. That story and several others are why elites and industry folk aren’t mentioning my book. See no evil hear no evil. The truth hurts sometimes.

Read it and that is a great story. I'd love to have an actual name but get why there's an alias.

Check the thread title again. World class, MEDAL CONTENDING athlete. Sorry to hurt your fanboy feelings but Valby is not a medal contender.

Based on some of the things Parker Valby has said, I'd believe her if she said she didn't even know any runners doped at all or that it was even a thing.
I lead an Olympic steeple final with 2 laps to go. Finished 13th. Is that medal contention?
To answer the OPs question, yes, all runners are doping now—with super shoes. Tech doping has become normalized. It’s not necessarily doping though if a * is placed by each record or the previous records are adjusted for time. The IOC and IAAF have chosen to ignore this fact for marketing/promotional purposes. Record times sell tickets and views.
Super shoe adjustment would put El G’s mile record at 3:39? That’s insane when you think about it. I remember warming up next to El G in Monaco and investigating the “debris” he and his team left on the practice track. Quite interesting.
