I’d like to believe this isn’t true. Her accomplishments in long road ultras on the road and track are impressive. Messing with Duwalter/Jornet(the GOATS) won’t win friends in the sport even though I suspect they both will likely forgive and forget or at least not comment. Jornet is a brand Camille wishes she could be and Courtney is far too self-realized to engage with negativity. Camille and her husband have done some questionable things and Camille definitely comes across as a bragger even on a good day. Hence, it makes this accusation believable. And, many people want to right this and previous less than honorable actions. I had no idea Camille was on the Spectrum. If these accusations are true, that doesn’t excuse them. High functioning people on the spectrum can fully distinguish between right and wrong.
If there were money in it, East Africans would have most of the records. You don’t think Kelvin Kiptum could’ve set every ultra “world record”?
East Africans can't even win Comrades Marathon.
East Africans don't care about Comrades. Yes there have been some token ones, but you can't just hop on a plane and go win Comrades when all the potential winners have been focussed on it for 11 of the last 12 months
Despite all this drama, she is racing in Greece this weekend. You would think she might want to lay low for a little while. I hope the Greek press has caught onto the story.
Let me be clear so it is not misconstrued. I am not claiming she is asserting that. I am simply offering an insight into how her actions although reprehensible might be rooted in her condition and the people she surrounds herself with. I know for a long time my identity was my running. As I have aged, I had to take my perception of myself as a runner and broaden that.
Additionally, I certainly don't want to go down the path of trying to analyze Camille. I have given my take on her. At best she is socially awkward. Thinking she has totally engulfed her self-identity and life into her running is not far-fetched however. She was and is a good runner. But not finding big success in the marathon, she opted to move up to find a place where she was "elite". She has chosen to pursue that and try to make a life off of that. So, she has in her mind a livelihood to maintain. This action of downgrading others as others have noted is completely short-sighted. She could have started a youtube and tracked her progress and gotten a following and brand that way without commenting on others or being condescending. Instead she chose a path on downgrading others to feel or give the perception she was more. In that sense she missed the mark and was totally misguided irrespective of any of any mental condition.
I am trying to be conciliatory however, as I know people with autism can have exaggerated tendencies. I know I do. So I can see how she maybe went down this rabbit hole and maybe hasn't had self-reflection to think about how her behavior affects others. It does and hopefully both her and her husband get that. I am certain the backlash is going to be big. And I am not certain that at this point in life she is going to really think about this. If her mom is saying people are attacking her and this is fake, when they have the emails and IPs, this is self-denial. I don't want to pile on. I am sure now when she shows up at any races, it is going to be awkward enough given this. The running community is just really not that big to do something like this and become anonymous. As noted, strange times indeed.
I don’t know her so I cannot comment like those who do. But it seems what she done was wrong, ultimately it’s editing Wikipedia in a mean spirited and negative way about other runners. It is wrong.
But I’m not sure she should be cancelled for it. People wanting her to lose sponsorship seems extreme.
A sponsored runner should reflect positively for the brands that they represent. If she’s “healthy” enough to get the sponsorships, sign contracts and promote brands, she can accept responsibility for her and her representatives’ actions.

I get that and don’t entirely disagree.
Just wondering if editing Wikipedia crosses that threshold.

It’s not editing her own page. Nobody cares if she thinks she’s the best. It’s delusional and probably most don’t believe it anyway, but it’s the editing of other people (especially women) who are better than her at running and in a different niche, too. Like she’s not even good enough to be a pro mountain runner so how does she think she’s better than Courtney?

Beck nailed it. Herron IS fast at 2:37 but not quite elite or even B women's standard...
And it would be funny if some bored Ethiopian female sub-2:20 marathoner in the twilight of her career decided it was time to pay more attention to Herron’s exhortations to grow women’s ultrarunning and spend a year or two shattering all of Herron’s records just to show how weak they are. And they clearly are.
What you have here is someone who maxed out at 2:37 for the marathon, is constitutively eager to run a ton of miles at a very slow pace, has an enormous ego, and is sufficiently deluded about how many people care about ultras to nourish that ego by jogging for unusually long periods.

This right here. It’s the editing of others. Not that she wanted hers to look better.
but this isn’t the spirit of ultra running any way. Ultra community is about encouraging and including everyone. I have yet to meet any ultra runner who isn’t excited for someone else’s accomplishments. When you DNF or your race goes wrong, people still encourage others and cheer them on. It’s the spirit of being in it together whether you’re first or last. These actions do not reflect that spirit.

It's petty and pathetic, and definitely a poor optic. It doesn't reflect well on her at all. But I agree with you that in the scheme of transgressions (doping! course cutting! illegal assistance in a race! etc etc), this is pretty minor. Definitely makes her unlikeable and I wouldn't blame her sponsors if they cut her off because they don't want to be associated with petty vanity, but I'm not going to show up outside her house with an angry mob either (so to speak).
