This is objectively false. Ashton Eaton's 100- 10.20, 400-45.00, 110H- 13.35, and LJ- 27'-O" were actual or borderline D1 All American/ US National Trial Marks.
In terms of the 1500, most, if not all, CrossFit Games finalists would struggle to break 5:00 for 1500.

Laura Horvath won the cross-fit games last year. She ran the cross-country 5k in 19:02. On a track she could easily run a sub 5 1500.
She's also stronger than Eaton.
Jeffrey Adler won the cross-fit games last year. He ran the cross-country 5k in 16:46. On a track he could easily run a sub 4:30 1500.
He's also much much stronger than Eaton.

Not as bad as the Let's Run hobby joggers like yourself who run 25 minute 5ks and sh*t on anyone who doesn't run sub 13... but still horrible!
Because what they are recommending is very likely to lead to injury (improper stances, positioning and lifting too much weight) and they act like a cult when referring to it.
Why are they heavily ridiculed and discriminated against online when they have the best of both worlds? (strength + cardio) They literally have the most balanced physiques.
I have yet to see one "elite" crossfitter who is remotely speedy. I have immense respect for guys like throwers and heavyweight olympic lifters. I watched a 350lb thrower on my college team run a 29s 200m for fun. Watching crossfitters sprint is embarrassing, and I don't know how you can call yourself the greatest athlete if you can't run even kind of fast.

I must be being trolled here. 24m would be a world record. Crouser threw 23.56m. The HS shot is only 12 lbs. Ashton is throwing 16lbs. And he's tiny compared to a shot putter. HS discus is 1.6 kg. Olympic is 2 kg.

The "dumb" person I was talking with was arguing that cross-fitters aren't even as fit as decathletes because decathletes are better at the decathlon than they are.
I was simply pointing out that decathletes are worse than high school boys at most events.
And for the 10th time being the "fittest athlete" does NOT mean being the best at every single discipline or event on earth.
I think we've proven pretty conclusively that the the anti-cross fit crowd are all morons who feel very threatened by anyone who's in better shape than them.
They're not really ridiculed, but at the same time they're not excellent at anything.
They are mediocre rowers, mediocre cyclists, bad runners, weak powerlifters, above average at calisthenics

Roger Bannister was a decent rugby player, Peter Snell was a club level tennis player before Arthur Lydiard discovered him. Alan Webb was a successful age group swimmer before moving into running. Grant Fisher was an excellent soccer player in HS. Yeah, there are guys like Gary Martin who are self proclaimd non-athletes but I'd say he's more of an exception than the rule.
I ran at a decent college program and from the 20 guys (Fr. -Sr) on the 800 to xc program I'd say 5 were above average athletes who were varsity level baseball, skiing, and soccer athletes before turning to running full time. 10 of us were pretty normal all around athletes who could hold their own in a pickup basketball game against a random frat squad and 5 couldn't make a layup to save their life. That's just from the distance squad. If you count the sprint and jumps squad our team was full of all-state HS footbal players and had two guys go on to have lengthy careers in the NFL.
I've said repeatedly the key component of crossifit is multiple rep compound movement weight lifting with body to super bodyweight weights. That's a good skill to have but its not truly critical to any major sport. For that reason, its not like you have to be a successful athlete in a major sport to succeed in Crossfit. In fact, things like long arms and legs are actually a disadvantage in most of Olympic lifts Crossfit uses in their workouts.
Some Crossfit Games Finalists come from swimming, rowing, track, and football backgrounds and have decent all around athletic abilities. Some don't.
Again, its not Crossfit training or even the Games that bothers people. It the attitude that (some) Crossfit people have that rubs people the wrong way.
