This morning saw Madison West's Truman White get DQ'd for a hard celebration after a finish. Sad! passionate guys like Truman are good for the sport. Madison west still came away with a perfect score on the JV side and another win on the varsity side.
What a great sportsmanship! He’s such a true man for that! He’s living up to his first name!
Germantown may not lived up to the hype this year, but they will undoubtedly come out guns blazing next September. Definitely a team to be feared. The rise and fall of these xc powerhouses will pave the way for new and better legacies. GERMANTOWN 2024 BABY LETS GO. HOP ON THE HYPE TRAIN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE
Most overrated team this season is Madison West without doubt. Most of their top guys will peak in the middle of the season again - just like track 2023. They’ll run great at griak. That’s it. Only guy to watch out for is Culp. Solid runner who could have a huge breakout season. Definitely a contender for top 10 at state.
If section alignments are the same, Madison West might struggle to qualify for state next year. That section consists of Madison LaFollette, Sun Prairie East, Verona, and Madison West. It’s going to be a tight battle between those 4.
LaFollette qualified and is returning most of their varsity squad. But it won’t be the same without the older Castellanos scoring the 1 point most of the time.
Sun Prairie East took 3rd at sections and losing only 1 senior, but again, he was their #1.
Verona didn’t make it and losing most of their guys, but at sections they were missing some guys who will be back next year. They might have peaked early in the season. But they do return a 16:55 top-5 average.
Madison West is losing 5 seniors but they still return Culp and another sub-17 guy. They return a 17:00 average.
Arrowhead was far from qualifying. Their section is too deep
Weakest sectional I've ever seen. Reminds me of when they sent the most to La Crosse for track and scored a donut
They also took 15th out of 20 at the state meet (10 spots lower than last year). Next year they will possibly not qualify. They return solid 1&2 and an ok #3, and that’s it. All 3 will be seniors.
Onalaska will be in a similar situation next year. They return a solid 1&2 and a decent #3 but that’s all. They won’t make the state meet. They are in a very tough section. But on the bright side, Putz can win NXN. He finished as a top nonsenior there this year although he fell at the beginning
