I don't think they want to compete in an "open" division though, the problem is that these boys are hell-bent on competing as females. They want the attention and want to displace the girls in the competition. Seems like a sick joke, actually.
Is this why kids like the one in this lawsuit do not want to reveal their real names?
WASHINGTON— Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, challenging a Florida law banning transgender girls from particip...
At least some of them do not want any attention at all, because they don't want to become the targets of hate and threats from rightwing cultural warriors.
For some reason, I can't use the quote post function. The post I am responding to said this:
Women's sports did not come into existence because they were getting beaten all the time by men, they were founded because the sports organizations did not think they should do sports at all. Women's sports organizations had to start their own competitions and were often subject to hostile action by the men's organizations. Women's soccer in England was severely hampered because until the 1970s the men's association banned members from allowing women's teams to use their pitches.
It's not true across the board that historically "sports organizations did not think [women] should do sports at all." The amount of official sex discrimination against, and exclusion of, women and girls in sports over time has varied depending on the sport.
In the so-called "modern sports era" that began in the second half of the 19th century, women in various countries were involved in a number of different sports and sporting activities starting from the time they were first invented - croquet in the 1860s, tennis in the 1870s, bicycle riding in the 1880s.
A Staten Island native named Mary Ewing Outerbridge introduced tennis to the USA in the early 1870s by bringing home tennis equipment from a visit to Bermuda and arranging the construction of America’s first tennis court.
Tennis soon took off in the USA particularly among women; the same happened in several other countries such as the UK.
A photograph published by the NY Times of dozens of people playing tennis on side-by-side courts in Staten Island in 1885 shows that the overwhelming majority were women. (It's easy to differentiate the women from the men because the women were all wearing flared white skirts that went down past their ankles.)
In 1881, indoor tennis began at the 7th Regiment Armory in Manhattan, with 12 courts set aside for the use of women. In 1884, the British Open at Wimbledon added a women's singles tennis championship. In 1887, the U.S. Open did the same.
Also, while it's true that British women's soccer was effectively killed off for half a century by the Football Association's decision to ban women from using FA facilties to practice, train and play, it's importan to note that the FA didn''t do this from the start.
Founded in 1863, the FA began making attempts to put some restrictions on women soccer players using FA pitches and other facilities in 1890 and again at the turn of the century. But the organization only banned women from practicing, training, and playing on pitches, stadiums and club facilities subject to its governance outright in 1921.. This was in direct response to the fact that in the years during and soon after World War I, women's soccer had become hugely popular with English spectators and fans alike, with teams like the international superstars like the DIck, Kerr Ladies FC drawing larger crowds to stadiums and bringing in more ticket revenue than any English men's matches previously had done.

But, with regards to students taking a big stand, it's not practical. That is a fantasy. The adults need to solve it and not the young HS students or student- athletes. Athletes can also be kicked out of NCAAs for being un sportsmanlike and all this stuff, they could lose scholarships. The leaders in power at the governing sports bodies, NCAA and local level need to step in and protect women's sports.
This grossly unfair situation of officially-sanctioned sex discrimination against female participants in sports was created by the adults in charge of sports governance, school adminstration and government overall. And those adults are the ones who have the responsibility and power to fix it - not youngsters still in school.
It's cruel and sick to blame girls and women in school for not putting an end to policies that adults came up with that give boys and men a brand new, officially-sanctioned way of trampling girls' and women's boundaries, removing our hard-won rights, and lording it over, intimidating and bullying us.
This will only work if a large majority of girls teams refuse to participate. They can ban one school; they won't ban over half the schools in the state. It will need to be something in the public eye, too. Just reading about it online doesn't do anything. People read it, think "That is unfair," and then go onto the next article. Thirty minutes later they will barely even remember reading it. Perfect situation would be the NCAA championships. Gun goes off, all the competitors (except the trans one) remail at their blocks and demand a second race. Pull a Jon Drummond and just lay down on the track and refuse to leave until a second race is run. The meet is in a no-win situation. Either they cave to the athletes or they try to have security remove them. Imagine security grabbing women and trying to drag them off the track. Not a good image for the meet. Something like that would make serious media headlines and the video would be all over youtube.
there were lots of guys who refused to play against Jackie Robinson. It was all over the news. Probably bigger than any viewing numbers on a modern YouTube videos. Those guys who protested looked like chumps and deserved to be mocked. Any girls protesting against trans athletes will look just as bigoted and foolish.
The problem is too much fear among administrators. They can only lose here by banning biological males from girls' sport. The admins will get attacked mercilessly by the loud activists if they do so and in many places would likely lose their jobs.
But if the administrators shrug and say 'eh deal with it girls your problem not mine' there will be no punishment to them. They stay in their $75,000/year jobs safe and secure with no public screaming at them.
For this to change laws have to be passed that admins can hide behind....we can't rely on administrators to stick their necks out when they know they will get hit hard publically if they do. Frankly...and I say this as a Democrat...we need conservative lawmakers to step up and start passing laws. The people are on their side...no way a majority of Americans thinks that biological boys should play against biological girls.
Is there a chance this runner is trolling the media/athletic admins? Their flippant response to "deal with it" and non-binary categorization make me wonder if they are trying to make a point that this is unfair. I have not seen this asked in the thread; just wondering if they could be a wolf in sheep's clothing for the trans athlete supporters.

HS Sports Associations of 30+ (mostly red) states already had policies to prevent this before the Republican lawmakers found the wedge issue du jour.
If HS Sports Association in a blue state does not take any action, their state legislature will not do anything.
So you are essentially calling for a Congressional action like HR 734. That will require a Republican majority Senate and a Republican president. I don't think Dems will filibuster it, since it's not a winning issue for them.

I really don’t believe it’s a congressional issue and if it is why wouldn’t it be reversed when the other party takes power?
But there is a much larger issue - safeguarding the truth.
Transactivists want us to believe that people with gender dysphoria were, somehow, "born into the wrong body" and that radical surgeries excavating properly functioning body parts joined with a barrage of opposite-biological-sex hormones and an onslaught of same-biological-sex hormone suppressors will enable the dysphoric to finally live in their "true" bodies and be their "true" selves.
Whereas opponents of that view believe the problem with the dysphoric is not with their properly functioning body parts but with their thinking.
This latter view is immensely more scientifically parsimonious (and has the advantage of being true).

Because Dems will not try to reverse it. It is a losing issue for them. They will have to offend either cis hetero women or LGBTQ people.
Even if Dems try to reverse it, Republicans will make sure to filibuster it. It is a huge winning issue for them, because it energizes their base and they can portray Dems as enemies of women.
