How come no one went with tuohy when she made her move at 3.5k
noone could go with her, but it sure strung the packout quickly!
Bush says she felt good being able to find and run near Chmiel for much of the race - which would not have been the case or would have worked out badly for her if Tuohy had gone with Valby and dragged along most of the other top runners such as Cook, the AL ladies, etc.
It's just a silly meme that some how tuohy controlled the race! Every girl on a team had the same pressure to do well! And a lot of individual runners played it safe or died at the end

You are arguing against the facts of what happened. 1) Tuohy did not chase Valby and 2) the lead pack remained large until Tuohy started chasing Valby. Like it or not I think Tuohy has the respect of the otherr unners and as Cook basically said "If this pace is right for her, it is right for me".
It's just simple minded to say one runners decision controlled the race
U have no idea what would have happened
Maybe it would of been just tuohy and valby and the exact same results otherwise
Maybe it would have been tuohy valby and 2 Alabama runners and would have helped NC state and Oklahoma state
Most of the runners can pick a pace that works for them irregardless of a few break away runners
NCState figured out the best race plan for them was to (as they always do) be in good positions but also be able to do that and not be racing too fast too soon. NC State had 3 of the fastest 4 final 1ks in the field as I recall (Bush was the 3rd). And yet people just dismiss the strategy they wanted, and got in of the race.
So 2 years ago when byu won it was because state had a bad strategy?
That is a bs response. BYU was a better team as Clairmonte had had mono and Tuohy was not really fit. On thop of that NC State seemed to figure out they had pushed too hard from 4k to 5k and decided to alter that this time.

But why couldn't they still do that if tuohy made an early move to stick with valby?
I'm not denying that state ran a smart race, but if they could do that with 1 break away runner, why not with 2?
I'm just stating a true fact that no one knows how it would have changed things, and it seems like wishful thinking to say it would have hurt the team
Go rewatch Nuttycombe and listen to what Carrie said in the middle of the race. I guess she is simple minded too?
Dude what r u smoking? Runners pick a pace that they think will work for them. Like how come Seymour and quarzo both faded and had bad races?
I guess those 2 did not pick the right pace for them (as you say they will)?
I do think it is far easier to run your best race if you are able to be in the position you want at the pace you want. Every year we jump on teams for "not getting out fast enough" and being 15th in team score after 1K or something and not being able to catch up.
In this case Bush and Mareno were able to be in top 40 the whole race while running a comfortable pace. Had the pace of the field been faster from 1K to 3K I think that would have been more difficult. Like it or not, Tuohy did not chase Valby early and the pace of the field (in one large lead pack) stayed reasonable.

BYU actually had whitni Orton breaking away and dying and they still Won!
